Unfortunately Matt, I can’t see what it is I’m bidding on as nothing comes up when I tap the link

It was a fizzy going for a joke amount of money.

Replaced now by the sound of tumbleweed 🤬 ...

Fizzy, fizzy you say.... Honda ss50 all the way for me I’m afraid. Although mine did have some fancy smancy 70cc barrel on it, courtesy of my 2nd cousin who used to work for the local Honda dealership at the time. (Dare I say 1979, gulp where’s it gone😪) ... used to give them fizzies a real run for their money. Although my mate had an Italian cimatti 50cc moped at the time. Unbelievably fast that thing, used to look a little bit like a yam FS1e but it was waaaaaay faster, it even used to blow off my XL125 once I’d progressed up to that. Sadly he wrote it off (through no fault of his own I might add) and because they were so rare, only three or four in country I think back then, we/he couldn’t get the parts to fix it.... sad day indeedy
Oh but what great memories... cheers, Michael

Next generation from me!  ::)

A D1 Bantam could still be had for £5 - £10 and I had a road legal Suzuki M31 for £25 in 1970! Raw power!  ::) ::) ::)

BUT, £6,000 for a FS1E? No way. An Aprilia 125RS, full power, can be had for £2,500 and think of the fun you could have on that.  ;)

RD80LC was my first steed, and they're starting to make silly money now too. I think I saw a restored example advertised recently at around the £4000 mark😲.

They're a fun little bike to ride - 65 mph flat out, a six speed gearbox and a 'power' band of around 1000rpm way up the rev counter. Entirely unsuited as a learner bike of course - much harder to ride than something like a Honda 250 twin for example.

My mum wouldn't act as guarantor on HP for a fizzy and I bought a Puch MS50D instead for £35. I suppose she was right to do so as the Puch went as soon as I hit 17 (for a Triumph Tiger Cub for £60) whereas I would have had another year to pay on the fizzy.

My first biuke was a Francis Barnett Plover with a mighty 150cc Villiers engine. Probably slower than anything mentioned except the Puch.

There's one in this Saturday's HJ Pugh auction. Am I tempted? No.....

There is some other interesting stuff however.

Fizzie for me- late '73 on an M plate. £163 new from Harry Bastable's-father of Steve -quite a well known speedway rider back in the day who later ran Speedaway M/C's down the road in Blackheath or Rowley Regis as it's also known.Bought my Guzzi Griso from there new for my 50th in 2008! Well I did have a Tiger Cub as a field bike when I was 15 but it only ever ran once Cost £6.50 and a pair of Doc Martins. Happy daze indeed!
