SRX600 in-line fuel filter?
« on: November 22, 2019, 09:20:25 AM »
Hello there! Long time no write, however have been perusing the posts the last few days and trying to find info on putting in an in-line fuel filter. From what I can tell the most popular spot is in between the fuel tap and the carb? Wondering what kind of filters y'all have found best, as I have to order it online and can't hold one up to it and see what would fit. I should note that I am located in Canada so I'll only be trying to find something that I can get over here that is similar in size/shape.

Thank you in advance!

Aye Northernmaplered,

Pleased to see that you still drop by to wind us up.  ;D  We have been down to -6C so far and I suspect that you might be below that all the time, or are you having a mild autumn?  :-\

Fuel filters that I use are these: 6mm_fuel_filter_link

I have mine in the fuel line from the vacuum fuel tap to the carb. It sits right inside at the back of the vacuum fuel tap. A bit fiddly, but out of the way. I can send images if required.

The clips I use are these: Hoseworld_fuel_hose_clips

They are made from stainless and are neat. Small, stainless steel 'Jubilee clips' also do the job, but are a bit more bulky. Measure the OD of the fuel hose you are using before ordering! Getting the too big size is vexing!  :-X  ;)

Good health and regards, Bill

Hiya Bill!

Thanks for the reply, nice to hear from you again! Wowza, time for the longjohns eh! It's been fairly mild so far, had a bit of -19C at the beginning of the month but it has been quite mild as of late, above zero even   :D

Okay excellent, thanks for confirming location for the filter. Your one looks very similar to what I've found so far.

Those are very neat hose clips! I hadn't yet seen such a thing, thanks for the tip. I had to order a bunch of new fuel line in varying sizes and it all came with scissor-style clips which so far have worked okay.

She's not running yet but I made my first attempts about a week ago and got two backfires! Unfortunately for my poor ears it happened in the confines of a single car garage with the door nearly shut but very exciting nonetheless! The tank is still in shambles but I got a little fuel bottle to assist in the resurrection for now. I've gone away to work in camp for a few weeks so I'm back to researching and ordering parts for awhile. Hopefully will have good news to report soon  ;D

Cheers and thanks again, AJ
