Camber?
« on: August 03, 2016, 07:46:55 PM »
Apologies in advance, as this has sweet FA to do with thumpers, or even bikes  :-\
Me and the Mrs share a Citroen Berlingo. Over time it has become obvious that it ets the rear nearside tyre, more than the rest. The rear axle is fixed, as in there's no alignment or tracking adjustment, and I've now been told, a couple of times, that they all do that, and so do Renaults. I just wondered, could it be that these vehicles are designed to drive on the right hand side of the road, and so driving on the left, the camber going the other way, affects them. Just a thought?

have you had the tracking checked? perhaps a previous owner has slid it into a kerb and damaged the stub axle or hub. i doubt its road camber, otherwise surely it would eat the front tyre as its carrying all the weight and driving it. id get the tracking checked by a garage first.

if you google 'berlingo camber problem' then you will find hundreds and hundreds of complaints about the same issue. it seems to be a fault well known about by citroen and theyre keen to try and ignore it or pass blame back to owners. but it seems that the whole rear suspension is a bolted on sub assembly that has some degree of adjustment in it and a hell of a lot appear to have left the factory without being properly alligned. ive just spent a half hour looking at reviews, and they do seem to have a major problem that they wont accept.

i think this is the same problem as i had on my picasso, replacement axle fitted at 147000 miles, much improved at not too great expense..seemed to cure the visual camber issue and stopped the wheels rubbing their sidewalls on the car body !
