Apparently the 600RR front end fits right on.

Hi thanks I thought about going down that route, but the forks would be too long and would need quite a lot of work to sort out and I want to keep the standard top yoke as the 600 forks are a larger diameter

The head bearings are the same inner and outer diameter?

Hmmmm......don't take this as Gospel without confirming it, but I seem to remember the CX500/650 front end fitted on with little adaptation and gave you twin discs up front - if you get the Eurosport version you also get the Boomarang Comstar front wheel. As I said just double check  this before you buy anything.
