XBR brake- and tail light sensor failure?
« on: September 13, 2013, 05:28:23 AM »
Has anyone had their brake- and tail light sensor fail? I remember when I first got the XBR, the tail light warning light was constantly lit, although the (then original) taillight was working fine. When I re-did all of my electrics, I followed the wiring scheme to the T with the tail light sensor. It worked fine for a long time (although the warning light on the dash just would not turn off), but as of late, my tail light (LED) doesn't work. The brake light works fine, and the taillight itself works when I took power to it from the brake light wire. I measured the tail light voltage and got only a small amount of power through, not even enough to light up the LED tail light.

Now I'm thinking about by-passing the sensor all together - it doesn't have any other function than to monitor whether the tail light is working or not, does it? Is this a common failure? Though, this might be just a case of bad wiring...
