SRX400 fuel tank cap
« on: October 13, 2012, 04:28:29 PM »
Hi,

Unfortunately, the tank cap surround on my project SRX 400 is broken (with a bit missing) so I need a new tank cap.  Can anyone tell me if they are exactly the same item as on the SRX 600 ?

Also, I assume a new cap will come with the seal that goes between the cap and the tank but are the seals available separately ?  I also need to take all the fittings off the tank on no1 SRX so I can get the dent fixed then have the tank resprayed but it looks as if the seal will probably need replacing.

Thanks  :D

the filler assembly on the 400 is the same as the 600 (on the twin shock models, and i think the same can be said for the mono shock, but not sure if they are interchangeable between twin and mono)

Hello Hazel,
I can confirm that the tank filler caps are interchangeable between all SRXs (Twin and Monoshocks) and a load of other Yamaha models!. I definately have a spare filler cap but Im not certain if I have the seal (which is listed as a separate part 1XL-2414A-01.COVER, filler). Whether this is still available I dont know but I would imagine so as it is such a widely used part. I will bring a filler cap to Stafford if that is of any use? Im afraid it has the little lock cover flap missing but is good otherwise.

HTH

Ian :)

Thanks Ian.  I've managed to buy one on e-bay for £19.95 now, which seems a good price as most people are selling them for over £30.  I'm now wondering if perhaps there isn't a seal where I was thinking there should be one !  I'll come and say hello and pick your brain, if I may  ;)

I want to get the tank and mudguards transferred to no 1 bike then give your mate a call about the dented tank.

I'll be looking for a suitable o-ring for the petcock seal while I'm at Stafford - I can only find them listed for sale in the USA which seems a bit odd.

I will try to remember to bring my parts list to Stafford and you can see the part numbers of what you need. I think you may need to get in touch with NRP at Manchester for the fuel tap seal..very good and quite knowledgeable too!. See you at the show. (BTW the filler cap off ebay doesnt include the big seal)

I specifically asked them if they included the seal - I think I may have been misled !

Gosh ! I hadn't notice the silly censorship  :-\

I spoke to NRP at Stafford today and will be able to get the pet C O C K seal from them - I may get the complete repair kit.

The chap on the Diversion stand outside reckoned I should be able to order the fuel cap seal as a separate item from any Yamaha dealer. He seemed quite shocked when I told him there was one on e-bay for £23 !

Thanks for the chat today Ian - love your bikes  :)
