If you are indulging in the fancy dress theme (smoking jackets and caps) then it has been thought best to address each other by surname only whilst in costume. Wouldn't do to be too chummy by using christian names, we're not French you know :-)

And yes, we do take this sort of thing far too seriously :-)

Hope you chaps will have quilted jackets, I understand it's going to get rather chilly!
