adjusting clutch?
« on: August 15, 2011, 06:28:19 AM »
At last, clutch now in bits.
It all looks good, slight marks on the metal plates where it looks as though the friction plates have been stuck at some point. I will clean it all up next.

What is the best way to go about adjusting it up?
Thanks Christine

Aye Christine,
As per the manual, which I'm we've managed to send you a copy of. If you've lost it or mislaid it another can be provided or use the method described in the Clymers manual for the XT600 / TT600.

Hopes this helps, Bill.

Thanks Bill, I have found the manual.
I have cleaned up the clutch plates and will polish up the casings while it is apart.
Has anyone found a good lacquer for casings that they can recommend?

i find that laquer is good for a while, but inevitably gets chips and cracks, then crud get in and starts to corrode the alloy, and is difficult to clean up properly, the lauqer on my #1 is also becoming discoloured from oil and petrol and heat.
personally, later bikes that i have refurbished i have either just polished and left uncoated (ok, it means you have to keep it clean and salt free) or have coated in heatproof paint in black or yamaha silver.... not laquered, it is then very easy to touch up any blemishes that occur.
