XBR: bar risers advice needed
« on: October 22, 2009, 08:33:02 PM »
Hi

As my Dad is downsizing, I'm now getting to ride his XBR. Lovely, but don't really like the dropped bars.

Anyone know if I can get bar risers that clamp onto the fork tubes (rather than drilling holes into the top yoke)?

Or any other alternative tricks? Would prefer not to drill the top yoke. Have seen Helibars, which are lovely, but nearly £300!!!!!!!!!!

Ta

Brendan

As far as I know Honda CBX550 F2 handlebars fit straight on.  Most of the XBR cables will still fit but you may need to carefully re-route and check throttle cables are not being pulled on full lock.  I think you may have to replace the choke cable - you may have to make one up.

Gives a useful rise over the standard bars.

Yep, the CBX550F2 bars do fit straight on and they give a decent improvement in handlebar height.

My xbr came with risers- I've put the standard ones back on- they clamp on the top of the tubes and give about 2 inches in height- I'm no longer using them, if they would be any use?

Raask make those clip-on risers. They do them in M&P Direct for about £45 a pair.

Without wishing to be to rude to Dave500, if you want to go the CBX bar route I think I've got a set here you can have. I think one of them has a slight bend, but I never noticed it when the bars were fitted.
