Rather than jack away on another thread I'll give you a short run down of the bike.
Bought as a rough but running SR500-

Ran it about for a few months to find all the niggles and then stripped it down.
Test fitted a set of FZR roks and wheels I had lying around from a previous scavenge and whilst the front end was no problem, I needed to machine the FZR400 s/arm to fit in the frame and I didn't have time to do it so the 3-spoke wheels were shelved (til the DR came along)

I stripped the engine-

and sourced a few go-faster goodies from the US; megacycle 251-62 (I think) cam, vernier cam sprocket, R/D Ti top valve springs, Wiseco 1st over 10:1 piston, Flow racing 1 3/4" header and megaphone, Supertrapp end discs, and a Mikuni TM38 flat slide from over here.
With the plan being to keep the stock s/arm I turned up a pair of Showas from a CB400SF and drilled some spacers up to allow them to attach to the SR mounts.
Stock forks were reoiled and longer spacers made up for firm the front up.

Engine and pipe test fitted-

I made some handlebars from some offcuts and sprayed the bodywork, my first time at candy lacework-

Wheels were stripped and painted then everything out back together to trial fit-

Wasn't sure on the bars with the top brace so cut it out so give a cross between Zed and upturned Ace bars.
Got it all done in time for the Ponthir show and even got the g/f to sit on it-

Tank detail-

Was quite pleased with it considering it was all done in the shed. Sold to a London fashionista and it's turned up in a few mags since.

Theres a lot of work in there to "just sell on" But Im sure it wasnt quite like that. I know most of us have been there and done that. It just doesnt seem to make sense does it (to outsiders that is)

Beautiful paintwork tho. Im very jealous that you have that talent. I struggle just to paint things one colour without the dreaded runs or orange peel :-[.

Well done!  :)

Best Regards
