Nothing Remarkable as yet
« on: September 30, 2009, 08:51:52 PM »
Hi all. as you are probably aware I have decided to do the silly thing and put a monshock SRX 4 engine into a twinshock frame. I have tentatively assembled a few bits just to see "how things go together" as can be seen from the photos (which I hope will upload successfully) I have put twinshock downpipes on just for effect, monoshock ones are on their way! ANY input from anyone is most welcome as this is (for me) quite a challenge, but for others probably a walk in the park   ::)

If those are the original wheels then it looks like you have a late 400 twinshock frame. The later 400's had a longer output shaft, so it maybe that the chain alignment is correct. PM me the frame number and I can confirm the model number.

Just a bit of an update,
I have straightened out various parts, brackets etc. I have sent off the downtubes for swapping over of oil tank, clutch cable brackets. I have welded one of the exhaust brackets on the frame and now started to paint the top and bottom yokes in Zinc Ox. I have bought various parts off fleabay, from Scotland to Germany and all points between. Im just turning a few stainless parts that need replacing and making bungs etc to fit the frame ready for it to be powder coated (Powder Coatings Birmingham). I will post photos as I take them.

A few more pics just to keep those interested informed....Got the oil tank fitted where it seems it should go NO comments about the temporary method of mounting . Not permanantly tho as yet. Had to make new front engine mounting  spacers (see pic)as the oil tank  was getting in the way of the old ones. This has resulted in me needing to make a new front engine mounting bolt as it is now a b*****d size (157 m/m of all things) and also I need shorter frame bolts (down from 70 m/m to 56m/m) ah well. I have painted top & bottom yokes (only need lacquering now) Given the fork legs a coat of paint but they need rubbing down after having fine surface filled them.

Chugging along steadily..roll on Saturday and hopefully I may find a few of the missing pieces for the "jigsaw"

Just in case anyone is interested.....
