Help! Need crank case for 1936/7 Norton Model 18
« on: November 24, 2008, 05:02:09 PM »
A good friend of mine (the same friend for whose Yamaha SR500 oversize petrol tank i'm selling) is rebuilding a 1936/7 Norton Model 18 for a friend of his. In fact, he's been rebuilding it for some time now, mainly due to a lack of parts, so with my Internet access i'm going to do all i can to help!

The bike in question is this one (click the picture to enlarge):

The crankcase is sadly beyond repair and needs to be replaced. The best photo of the crankcase that we have is as follows (again, click to enlarge):

If anyone happens to have one of these for sale, or knows where we might find one, please let me know! ;D

Thanks in advance, people! ;D

Hi Fishsponge,
a friend races with a #18 and ownes a #19 for street legal use. Of course he doesn't sell any crankcases, but I can tell you, that even a badly worn case can be welded/repaired cheaper than what a "new" one will cost...

Gruss

Thank you for your reply, but this one isn't worn, it's cracked, broken with some of the screw threads broken off and it's generally unusable and unrepairable.

The friend i'm trying to get hold of this for is something of an expert in singles, and i'm inclined to believe that if he says he needs a new one, then he definitely needs a new one, if you know what I mean :D

Thanks though! :D
