XT Meet Hay on Wye
« on: February 22, 2009, 09:55:47 AM »
Hi All,

I would like to take the opportunity to advertise the forthcoming, first Yamaha XT/ST/TT/HL meeting to be held at the Baskerville Hall Hotel in Clyro near Hay on Wye, during May 8th-10th 2009.

It is something I have decided to do through the www.yamahaxt-500.com forum, which I have been a member of for the last 6 years.  After 6 years of membership there has never been a rideout or (meet to my knowledge), only a few static shows at Stafford and Donnington.  The thing I like about the Thumper Club is that you guys use your bikes, this was evident at this years Dragon Rally, where I met a few of you, granted very briefly, and hope to meet again during this year.

So along with my buddy Bob (Cobra) from the forum I have taken the bull by the horns, and planned this event.

The event is building nicely with 30+ owners from the UK, Belgium, Switzerland and Ireland making the trip.  We also have Lois Pryce, motorcycle adventurer/author and journo, attending on her XT500.

The majority of bikes are of the XT/SR/TT 500 stamp, but we also have a couple of XT660's attending, and a few press famous bikes :)

The meeting will kick off on the Friday, with set up, banter and Friday eve in the bar planned.  Saturday a 90 mile rideout through Hay, Abergavenny, Brecon, planned lunch stop.  Sat night - Bar-b-q, games, prizes, and beer.  Sunday a short rideout, a small impromptu bike display in Hay on Wye, and then home.

There will be an entrance fee of £20 per person but this will include a T-shirt, sticker and Sat night Bar-b-q (excludes falling over juice)

Accomodation is: camping at £6 per person per night, hotel from £32.50 per person per night.

If you have the right bike, please come along.

For more news/info ring Alun on 07816 894633 or email alun@williams305.freeserve.co.uk

Thanks

Alun (Will)

Hi,

I have no problem with you coming along, campsite plenty big enough.  Just dont want to lose sight of what the event was planned for.  Rip out your engine and pop in a 500 ;).

Let me know if you are serious about coming.

Will

Sounds like a great event. All of us here involved in organising events know what is involved in getting a rally off the ground... it's bloody hard work, but very rewarding.

Might see you in May then  ;)

Hi Steve,

Absolutely,  I tried to catch up with you at The Dragon, I believe you were there,  but got side tracked by looking at all the bikes and something called BEER. :P

It will be nice to have a mix of past and present.

Will you be camping or lording it up in the hotel?  and will you be attending from the Friday.

Regards

Will

Will, have you considered putting this item on the XT660.com site, I'm sure that you would get a few takers from there as well. Just a thought.
(I could do this for you if you so wish.)

Cheers SteveD
PS I just might try and make it for the Thursday evening as well, work permitting.
