Aye to fellow...............'s! [You know who you are.]
Just returned North from a good 2 day British Historic Racing (VMCC racing section) meeting at Cadwell!;-)
My first ever visit to the place! Saturday was a peach of a day with a drying track and good racing all day. Sunday started well. But after a racing incident with one rider and a season of hard abuse finally catching up on another bike, followed by a 'Mother' of a thunderstorm from 10 minutes before lunch finished [14:00hrs] until 15:00hrs, they took the edge off proceedings.
Vans all packed and then watched remainder of shortened programme which finished at 18:00hrs. Moggies on full opposite lock, under power, at the 'Old Hairpin'! ;-)
Martin Smith on a variety of machinery going really well, with two wins by 0.003 secs between the 'Old Hairpin' and the Finish. Paul Dobs on a Scott Flying Squirrel also very impressive with a fall in his first race whilst leading on the last lap at the hairpin X-over for the Woodland circuit and then winning all his remaining races, 8 I think! I enjoy the watching rather than the scribbling in the programme. Plenty of lusty singles including a 'proper' Saturno, Dukes, Cotton, Rudge 'Ulster', Velo, Vinnie Comet, Gold Star's and the luxury AMC, Norton end of proceedings, were 'Big Bucks' for maybe 'Big Bangs' and being a bitch can go hand in hand!
Also found a supplier of Duke single big-ends, we may have progress this winter!
I can also see why people become addicted to the place, especially the 'Woodland' circuit. Sundays racing was on the full circuit, without the dreaded BSB bus stop before the entrance to the cambered left at the start of the run to the 'Mountain'. Oh, delight in the paddock on Saturday night!
Shall try and get some sleep tonight in a dry bed.
Keep boppin', Bill
