I've spent weeks on a bathroom job with the customer changing her mind about the details, not getting the bits and pieces on time, and choosing pebbles for a wet room floor (not my first choice for a water-draining surface). The pebbles didn't work (as anticipated) and somehow I footed the bill for re-laying them.

Needless to say the job has over-run and she has refused to make a bank payment for the small amount of wages I racked up this week. What is less than amusing about this is that I will now almost certainly incur over £70 of bank charges because I have bills going out on Monday that I cannot pay.

There's nothing to be done about it, it's part of the joy of being self-employed, but I just wanted to rant to somebody about it because it's getting me down.

Site meeting tomorrow morning. Should be interesting.

What gets to me is that each time this happens it makes me more of a bastard builder. It's fair to say that I'm too easy-going, but each time this happens I get a little harder.

Ho hum, at least I've still got my bike... but that's broken too... doh!

Heres a question ;-)  What are you supposed to do with your towel in a wet room ???  Or do you have to have a wet room so big that one end stays dry ? (Wet/Dry room)

In this case there is a wall (it's supposed to be in glass bricks, but they haven't arrived yet) that juts out into the room about 80cm. This means that the towels, toilet seat and toilet paper stay dry.

The room was a wet room before, but the customer wanted the drain moved to the other side so I had to dig the floor up and alter all the drainage... she wanted the toilet moved too.

It will look effing lovely when it's finished, although I'm in the mood to say "find someone else to finish it".

Customers, who needs 'em. I've just had one sit on a project start date for 6 months then try and bring the introduction date forwards!

Still, they can all *** off for two weeks now.

Cheer up GC, it'll all look better once the replacement frame starts coming together.

You keep getting diddled by dead-beats. Tell her she's not a charity. If she won't pay, go elsewhere. And next time write a contract and get it signed before you start. You are not liable for any client's mistakes!

Well as I have said before - go round with a breaker and take it all out again.... lol

Mind we DO have a bog and bog floor that needs replacing - have been meaning to do it for 8 years, first sport then illness got in the way.  So long as we can afford the job we will pay (as in afford before work is started), plus some windows etc, so .....

Another possibility is to take round a breaker and rearrange her knees....?

OOOeeeerrr I have just thought of the above in the context of Cut, snip and paste - now I know some people see the snip as permission from SWMBO to play away but maybe not the best idea?
