Does anyone know of an aerosol I can get from an automotive shop which will provide paint to match the silver side panels on my '86 SRX600? Thanks Rob

HI ,MY HUSBAND IS A PAINT SPRAYER BY TRADE AND HE SAID IF YOU GO TO ANY GARAGE THAT DOES BODY REPAIRS THEY WILL HAVE DETAILS OF A  PAINT SUPPLIER WHO CAN MATCH YOUR COLOUR EXACTLY IN AN AEROSOL FOR ABOUT £12.  IF YOU ARE ANYWHERE NEAR MARGATE,KENT I CAN GIVE YOU DETAILS OF OUR PAINT SUPPLIERS.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

I don't think that the SRX side panels are painted. I think they are anodised aluminium. Mine were laquered when I bought it and haven't been touched since, so I may be wrong.

If it's any help, Holts Ford Silver Fox is a pretty good match for the rest of a silver SRX.

PLEASE DISREGARD THE ABOVE PAINT SUGGESTION.

Bit of brain fade last night - Silver Fox matches some Honda's I've owned.

The near SRX colour match is Ford Platinum Silver.

i could get you a paint code for the colour, i do some work for a local paint supplier, and they have a spectrum analyser (i thought that was something they shoved up your b*m in hospital, but apparently not!) i have used them before and it seems pretty acurate, i'll take one of my side panels in if you like and get a code for you.

well, as i was going in to do some work for them, i took a side panel in and had it tested
bad news is......came up with a unique code.....only applicable to their paint system
good news is.... it can be matched ok, £12.49 + vat for base colour paint in aerosol can
£5.49 + vat for top coat laquer in aerosol
add a bit on for postage

Let me know if you was some

Cheers

Hi Steve, thanks for info. I would be interested in enough cans for the SRX600 tank. Rob

Hi Rob,

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the tank a different shade to the side panels?

well, anyway, i think 2 cans should be sufficient, also a couple of cans of primer, and one of laquer, you'd be looking at around £45 + vat + postage

i recommend their primer rather than a cheapo halfords variety, seems to go on a lot better, and the nozzles in their spray cans produce a proper spray pattern at the right pressure.

cheers
