SRX600 3SX intake / inlet rubbers
« on: June 29, 2015, 07:35:23 PM »
Hi, my 1992 SRX600 3SX is in need of intake / inlet rubbers. Would anyone know which of the more popular Yamaha dual intake singles carried the same parts please?

Is the problem that your intake rubbers have gone hard and inflexible? As I was amazed when I recently restored a pair of carb rubbers using wintergreen oil and a camping stove. You should be able to look up the details online. It really does work  :)

Aye m4s4,

If the inlet rubbers are split then rejuvenation is out of the question.

I have not tried the wintergreen method! But 'Armorall' does a good job of restoring flexibility and lubricating the inlet rubbers when assembling.

So far as I am aware both 1JK-14453-00 (R/handside) and 1JK-13596-01 (L/handside) facing the front wheel direction, mounts for the carburettors are readily available either as OFE from your Yamaha dealer or as pattern parts from the likes of Wemoto and Yambits. The rubber connectors between the carburettors and the air box are no longer available from Yamaha or others unless you can find 'old stock', so far as I am aware.

A thorough clean and the use of some of this stuff might work, BUT I HAVE NOT TRIED THE WHEEZE MYSELF!

Self_bonding_oil_heat_resitant_tape

or Liquid_insulating tape

I hope this helps.

My regards, Bill

Thanks Bill & Timbo.

Replacements are required and being a grey import my thinking was that a similar generation bike might use the same parts.

The 600 3SX carb set is very slightly different from the 1JK in that the secondary unit / right hand carb has a 30mm (2mm increase) barrel versus the 28mm of the original SRX600 and there are postings elsewhere suggesting that the 1990's XT600E shares engine parts with the 600 3SX.

I'll invest in a set and give it a go and update in case anyone else has a similar problem.

Aye Mike,

They certainly appear very similar and a part number comparison maybe useful. Anotherr alternative is to investigate the Yamaha 'Grizzly' range of 4 stroke single cylinder quads 600cc and 660cc, not the 700cc 2 stroke!  ;) I've used 'Grizzly' parts for the motor of my 600cc 1JK and had no problems over 25,000Km +.

I hope you are succesful.

My regards, Bill
