Earlier this year whilst taking The Norton for Mot and riding at about 50 the drain plug out of the engine sump came undone and to cut a long story short it buggered up the piston as all the oil was lost.My mate from the Mot station came out and rescued me we got the bike tested and he returned it home. Stripping the engine revealed the piston shot but everything else apperas to be OK.
I emailed the Norton Owners Club for a piston which they have listed in their spares list no reply after two weeks I contacted a mate in the Black Country and he managed to find me a brand new Hepoilte piston for £40-00.
This has now been fitted and I fired the bike up to day and had a short ride round all seems to be well but I will have to run the new piston in.
Re my search for a Dynamotor I was kindly given an email add of a gent at Woods a long email describing what I had done to the bike that is fitting a dynamo from an A series BMC engine but having to rewire the dynamo because on The Norton it rotated the opposite way to which it would have on the car as as you will know a Dynamo will only generate in one way unlike an alternator. I then went on to describe to him how I wanted to fit a dynamotor to enable me to have an electric start option.A photo of the bike was also sent.
The first reply I had from him stated that it was an alternator I had fitted

? I re emailed him pointing out that in my first email I had described at length what I had fitted that is a dynamo.
The next reply I had was telling me they could sell me a dynamo for £40 odd.I have sent a further email repeating what I am looking for but as yet no responce.
I am going to a local rally next weekend and also don,t forget Red Marley Hill Climb is on Easter Monday although you can turn up on the sunday if you wish.
Thats my little rant over see you all in a field some where.
