SRX Monoshock
« on: January 28, 2014, 03:01:30 PM »
I have been Googling for inspiration on how to create a bracket for locating the top of the shock absorber on the SRX, currently there is a lot of air and nothing obvious to come off.
I have to say there are some very dubious looking brackets out there, the picture below being an example which looks like it would just rip the weld out of the cross brace.

Its either that or I am being overly fussy.

I'm no engineer, but the lack of triangulation looks like you would receive the shock up the jacksie in very short order!  :'(  :-[

The 'spacer' is...... questionable.

Doesn't appear to be any weld running lateraly along the top of the tube, just down the sides!  ::)

However, if lasts the race and falls apart crossing the line in 1st place, a racing man would say it was "Good enough"!  ;D

I hope you figure something out Steve.

My regards, Bill.

I looked at it and thought "would I want to hit a pot hole at 90 with something like this holding the back end up ?".

One of my problems is that I tend to over engineer things, but in this case I think I am right to do so

well, being a 'suck it and see' sort of trial and error bloke... that pic would, in my opinion, represent a tack welded tryout... pending further bits to provide the necessary support... I wouldn't even take the bike off the bluddy track stand as it is now!!

This is an interesting top shock mount.

It wont work for the SRX but the guy looks like he knows what hes doing. More info HERE
