Honda XBR 500 silencer
« on: December 19, 2013, 05:02:18 PM »
Hello Thumper Club. Just registered.
Does anyone know of availability of a Gold Star pattern silencer, with the right sort of sound even if 'twitter' absent, in chrome or preferably stainless, with a two-inch inlet diameter? (the actual BSA Gold Star silencers are always one inch something ie about a quarter-half inch too small)
Want one for my XBR 500 which has a custom made two into one system exiting with two inch outlet. Prefer not to have size adaptor if only for neatness of looks. At present it's fitted with a Supertrapp megaphone originally for a Harley I think, and obtained from a UK Harley customising dealer in south coast area, but would prefer to fit a Gold Star silencer for more pleasant sound....

I had no problems fitting my Goldstar silencer to the XBR I used a reducer but it fits inside the silencer and cant be seen. What make of downpipes are you using. You do get the twitter sound using that silencer

It's a one off system made by Aldens Exhausts in Lincolnshire (who are highly recommended)-one pipe runs at right angles under the engine to join the other into a two inch outlet, which fitted the 2 inch Supertrapp inlet. At idle (the usual 1200 rpm XBR idle it;  sounds like a motorboat-not good at all-but have to admit the sound improves with revs. Would a Goldie silence with reducer be available in stainless? And would jetting be affected? The Supertrapp has caused no jetting problems from standard..
