SRX 600 Reg/Rec keeps blowing????
« on: February 18, 2011, 08:17:39 PM »
After much hassle I have found the problem!!! There is a main earth wire in the loom which splits at the front of the loom to the main head light, indicators and main earth, after further inspection and stripping down of the loom itself it was found to be rotten through it's entire length. It is cripped at either end and is only about a foot long but this was the source of all my problems, it had continuity but I guess under load it caused an problem which kept on frying reg/recs. Now all is well. Check your loom under all the insulation tape!

hi, sorry for my poor french...hope you can understand

i'm having  a problem I can't identify, so hopefully some of you can help me.
anytime I start my bike, it goes up with rpm, than hesitates for a while, and then it goes down till it dies...

here what I mean (I'm not touching the throttle at all)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJxvbPCzv6k

the bike has modified cammes (for high), lightened flywheel, aftermarket exhaust.

it used to have mounted a cr 33 keihin, but thinking that could have been the problem, I replaced it  with the original one...still the same problem.

I replaced the CDi, but nothing changes

sooooo...what may be the problem?

Hi Nixt...
It sounds like fuel starvation (or water in fuel) as the fuel mixture gets weaker the revs will increase.. then the engine will finally die.

check all pipes and the tap and make sure there are no air leaks in manifolds, empty fuel tank completely, clean filter in tank, fill with fresh fuel.

good luck

thanks Steve
I changed fuel just before shooting that video and the manifolds seems right...still, I'll have a try and will empty the tank again
any chance it may be related with the pickup?

thanks

I too would suspect fuel - given the same prob with two carbs I would check inlet manifold.
I have also had a similar problem with a duff coil - although generally after the coil had warmed up rather than straight from cold.

Apart from the poor tickover does the bike run ok when riding ? Are you using the standard fuel tap, if so does it run better when the tap is set to the 'prime' position ?
