I had exactly the same response on a Landy forum when I suggested replacing the rubber-into-solid-into-rubber clutch hose with a length of Goodridge. One chap said "Land Rover must have made it that way for a reason"
Er... yes and the reason is cost.
I did point out that as all high performance vehicles used braided hose for the task then surely it might be safe.

you're hanging around with the wrong crowd... our lot would have probably suggested throwing in an LT77 and a V8 as you've got the spanners out anyway :o

It wasn't a site for "classic" landrover restoration was it :(

Again - resurrecting an ancient topic.. But a few related questions regarding new XBR shoes:

Regarding tires, I've not found a clear answer on wether mixing tires is good or bad. I've decided to stick with the original sizes (100/90 F , 110/90 R) but am having difficulties finding a pair from a specific model or even make!

So, is it cool to buy, for example, a Metzeler Perfect ME77 rear tire and a Michelin Pilot Sporty front tire (or any other mix)?

I believe using a tire that's labelled "front" in the rear is a bad idea eventhough the size matches?

And what does a code "M/C" mean on a tire? (I read somewhere thet it's "Bead design, for specific rim types" but what is that specific rim type and do I have it?)
