Battery not charging
« on: September 04, 2010, 03:04:33 PM »
I have just had the stator plate out to check that it was ok had it checked at work by the electricians(who fix jumbo jets) and they confirmed that it was ok,he also did some tests on the regulator and to his test that tested ok as far as the diodes were but he said he didnt know what there was in there after the diodes that he said could not be checked, all is back together with new and clean earthing points but still no charge, can I test whats coming out of the stator 3 white wires? and what are the chances the regulator is duff?
cheers
Graham.

assuming you are talking about the XT

are there 4 wires going to the (rather odd shaped, sort of pointy at one end) regulator?

2 white, a red and a black? on a square plug/socket arrangement?

the white wires are the AC input from the stator windings

red is + and black is - 13.4v output to battery

are you sure the battery is ok?

i'm assuming here that the stator/regulator assembly is similar to the srx, if it's not then i'm talking boIIocks (as usual)

I can't recall exactly, but you run the engine at 3,000rpm and check voltage between the three phases. You should be able to get the voltages from an internet source.
