Not on a SRX - but I have had taper rollers sit flush and sit proud.  If the seat is clean before they go in and they are put in square all should be fine do the protrude evenly? Are they the same top and bottom set? - it will be a slightly different spec bearing.  You can seat them by cracking down the pivot nut really tight - but this risks knackering them before you start, can flat the rollers, pit the race, crack the hardening or all three...

always been flush on the srx's i've done.....i'd strip it all out again and clean the area where the cups sit in the frame, then make sure the cups sit well down onto the shoulders in the frame.
not left a spacer in there or summat like that?

First set I had in the Triton were flush, second set were slightly proud.  Stripping and checking would not be a bad shout, but they maybe OK

It's a while since i did one, but are the cups that fit in the frame both the same thickness?.....somewhere in the back of my rapidly diminishing # of brain cells i seem to remember that they are different.......might be a different bike/place/time....just a thought.

but if all seems ok, then go for it

Out of interest where did you get them, from memory the bottom race is a non-standard size which is awkward to get hold of.
