Sachs 650
« on: October 06, 2009, 08:12:41 PM »
Hi
My name is Wozza and I'm new to the world of big singles having just purchased a Sachs 650 with 1k on the clock. I live up in Morecambe Lancs.
I purchased the bike unseen from a large Honda dealership in Herts. I'm pretty pleased with it, however there is one thing that I'm not sure of at all - The bike starts on the button, but the downpipe glows red after only about 4 mins in the garage while ticking over...A bit of a 'doh' question really but surely this isn't normal for a large single?????? It has a standard exhaust.

Any ideas or have I just purchased a duff bike.......?

Thanks for any help.

Aye Wozza,

Delighted, that you dropped by and hope you'll be comfortable.

It's the Suzuki 650 single and it likes fresh air, cause it's air cooled. Might I politely suggest you give it some fresh air after a change of oil, oil filter, plug and clean out the air filter. It's not even run in yet, with only 1,000 miles on the clock and you will just shorten it's lifespan, unless it gets ridden. ;)

All the best for plenty of miles, smiles and not to much oil under the finger nails!

Regards, Bill

I would check that the exhaust isn't blocked.

Thanks for the advice which I will take up..... ;D  I've been for my first spin on the machine and so far I'm quite impressed, though I will have to get use to the low down snatcyness which I'm no use to....

I purchased the bike from Norton Way Honda in Letchworth and I must say I'm less than impressed with the quality of their service.
I was this told the the bike had an owners manual, service booklet and tool kit. I was also informed that the bike would get an oil and filter change and get checked by the workshop.   Anyway the bike arrived with no Owner's manual, no service booklet, nor tool kit.  The bike's oil is only on minimum level and is black so obviously has not been changed.  I had to use WD40 in order to remove the seat and then found it was filthy underneath, the seat obviously hadn't been removed in ages.   This is not what I expected from a Honda dealer, it's not a 'sold as seen bike'.   The response so far from Norton Way Honda has been really poor and no one get's back to me inspite of promises.

If their offer is in print, send a copy and your complaint to the trading standards, copy to Honda UK and the shop.

there are a lot of main dealers who don't want to know you if don't have £7000 in your pocket.

a friend of mine went to a honda dealers to buy a new innova (£1500ish). only when he walked towards the door after 20mins waiting did they ask if he needed anything. he waved £1500 in their face and told them they wouldn't see any of it.

poor service is one thing but actually lying to the customer is something you should persue. Honda UK might be interested to find out what happened.

Latest news... ;D  Well after my compliants to Norton Way Honda, the quality control service manager has been in touch and has told me to take the bike to any dealer and get and oil and filter change and they will pay...... ;D
She is also looking into the owners manual, service book and missing tool kit. So far she's beed very postive and she DOES believe me over me being told that the books and tool kit were present.

But most importantly......I'm really enjoying Sachs!!!
