well, my 1st srx was stripped and done in yamaha silver and laquered.....looked good for maybe 3 years, then as salt and road sh1t got into the stone chips it all went 'orrible.....left wet for more than 24hours parts of the engine got quite furry!....in retrospect i think i'd have done better leaving it as stripped and clean alloy, at least then a good going over with gunk now and again would have brought it back up nicely..whereas now, with the paint/laquer is crazed and discoloured and there's bu55er all i can do about it.
number 4 srx (pics on here somewhere) my Son did the engine in black (a special barrel paint got from the states) now that looked the dogs.....I took it to the NW 200 this year (1000 mile round trip in absolutely crap weather)....cleaned it up when i got home, and there were obviously chips to the paint, but they were obvious, so I just touched them up with some of the same paint and an artists brush, and it was good as new.....but you'd be needing to do it every couple of months (depending on your usage) to keep on top of it......course, you could go down the stove enamel route like the Vincent!....cost a packet.....lots of nice colours available now... :)

All XBR's barrels seem to look scruffy after a few years.  I respayed mine using silver Sperex VHT manifold & exhaust paint several years ago and it still looks good.
