SVA Approval for bikes?
« on: July 14, 2009, 06:42:06 PM »
Anyone know the rules? More specifically is there a guide anywhere online for what is tested?

Obviously all these bikes into one off frames (choppers, streetfighters et al) are SVA'd and not just mot'd then taxed.... or is it just less hassle all round to give a project an arbitary identity, mot and tax it and crack on....

Aye Smudge,

http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roads/vehicles/vssafety/importsapproval/thesinglevehicleapprovalscheme

Should keep yur nickers in a twist for hours! :( Also, only Aberdeen and Glasgow Centres in Scotland that'll 'do' the test for you! >:( Some 'service'!

Hope you received the PM with attachments?

My regards, Bill.

Got the pm thanks, I'd found that site, the problem with it is that it's 99% about cars or importing foreign production vehicles. Not much at all about bikes  :-\
Will keep looking, don't feel inclined to pay them £37 for their test manual!!  :o

Aye Smudge,

Download from the right hand side of the page as a pdf :)

http://www.dft.gov.uk/adobepdf/165240/224107/singlevehicleapprovalscheme

Have just noted Smudge that as from end of July the SVA becomes the IVA, with different 'jargon'! :(

Revised forms etc. Here is the link: http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/cgi-bin/texis.exe/webinator/search/?query=IVA&search=Go&pr=crt&x=25&y=9&prox=page&rorder=500&rprox=500&rdfreq=500&rwfreq=500&rlead=500&sufs=2&order=r

Typical snappy address! :-X

My regards, Bill.
