Srx parts interchangeability
« on: August 18, 2008, 05:16:34 PM »
Hi, it looks to me like the brakes, wheels and forks of the srx , trx250 and Fzr400 are interchangeable,  and probably more,  fj brakes are mentioned elsewhere.  or do you need a load of shims and spacers so swap stuff around?

Its just so much easier to get the bits from these bikes....

Aye Julian,

Go and have a look here: http://www.thumperpage.com/articles/srx6faq.html

I know it seems heretical, but Reid who has been running the site has hit hard times and I sure would appreciate some 'thanks' if you find the info useful.

Same with this site, my appreciation to SteveH and his other site SRX600, without it I might not have bought an SRX600 or blethered for so many hours to other singles owners with similar afflictions.

My regards, Bill.

Thanks, that seems to confirm my thoughts on FZ bits.

fj1100 and Early fj callipers also fit but not the later fj1200s.
I have converted mine to run on early R1 type callipers but needed an adapter plates made up.
Maybe "srx6" could be persuaded to knock some copies up for a reasonable price.
I find the advantage is the pads are fairly cheap to buy and they work well up to modern standards.
Also these callipers are fitted to most of the modern big yams so are cheap to buy on ebay.
