How much Oil does an SRX400 use ?
« on: September 28, 2007, 10:49:53 AM »
Noticed today that the oil had gone down a bit on my bike. It was showing a couple of marks off full on the dipstick but has now gone down 3 more marks over the last 2 weeks. Done about 350 miles in the 2 weeks.

Normal or not ???

As a rule it shouldnt use much. When are you checking it ?. After a run or after standing for a while. When the bike is left standing the oil in the tank will tend to seep through the pump into the cases. Because of this the dipstick reading will vary a lot. Ride the bike for a few miles and check again.

They are a fecking nightmare!!!  Even my MZ skorpion (Yamaha single) is the same.

Its probably not using oil.  As steve says, run it (I think even 30 secs will pump it all back to the tank??  but I bow to his greater knowlege!)  And check it again.

Or (if you are curious!)

1 check it cold
2 run it (or take it up and down the street)
3 check it again
4 be amazed by your marvellous oil-generating motorcycle!

We are all going to be rich!  RICH I TELL YOU!!!  A-hahahaha!! :D

As a matter of interest how fast does the 400 go, what's it's cruising speed and is it possible to convert it to 500? What are the engine differences?

Whoops, I was thinking it was the SR400. If it's the smaller 4 valve engine don't feel the need to answer
