Why is this happening ? Is there a fix ?
« on: September 06, 2007, 10:32:49 PM »
At the moment I have 2 MZ Skorpions in use.

1st is a sport with a few mods and just over 25000 on the clock.
2nd is a traveller with no mods and just over 24000 on the clock.

I can ride the traveller for 45 miles and my fingers are dead up to the knuckles.
The sport is fine ,with light tingling in the fingers after 100 miles.

Both have heated grips and are setup roughly the same.

As the traveller was bought for long distance runs ,
Having to stop every 45 miles to wake my fingers up is a bit of a pain.

Any ideas ?

Try some heavier handlebar end weights?   Or maybe try adding extra weight of diff. proportions until you find improvement?  :)

Are they both geared the same? What RPM are you crusing at? Are the bars in rubber inserts? Are the exhausts mounted the same( rigid to the frame)

Hi OMEGAMAN,
They both have the same handle bar end weights ,I will try adding some more weight.

Hi Andy,
Tyres are conti ( front ) on the traveller all the rest are Bridgestones all are balanced.

Hi Ken,
I think you've hit the nail on the head,
Sport is running 16t front 39t rear,
Traveller is 15t front 39t rear ,
According to the parts manual some of travellers had 43t rear fitted.

Thanks all for the help

That looks back-assward: touring bikes are supposed to be geared to lope along calmly in top gear. If it were mine, I'd go one tooth bigger than the Sport on the front. The aim would be to get something like 4000 - 4500 RPM in top at 70.

Hi GB500nz,

I don't think I'd get a 17 tooth front sprocket in ,
I think you've got a point though ........
The sport runs 4200 rpm ish at 70 ,so a 16t front might sort it out .
