As usual, one set of rules for them and a different set for the rest of us. A clear message from the judiciary that 'ordinary' folk don't matter. 😡

"Garner's barrister Peter Caldwell said he had "fallen from grace" and suffered "serious mental health crises" as a result of what happened.

"He has been on medication," said Mr Caldwell.

"He is, in his own words, 'trying to deal with it'. There are acute episodes where he needs help."

He said Garner had not realised he was breaking the law, which was accepted by the prosecution.

"This was not a position where he knew of the restriction and nonetheless went and did what he did," said Mr Caldwell. "He didn't."

He said Garner had personally made £30,000 of payments to pension scheme members before he was made bankrupt.

"Your honour should understand he sincerely does convey his remorse to you and to others," said Mr Caldwell."

Hi All

To quote Ian Hislop from many years ago 'if this is justice then I'm a banana'.

I doubt, given the way he has acted for years, that Stuart Garner will lose even a minute's sleep over what he did, in fact he probably went for a champagne dinner with his scumbag lawyer to celebrate not being properly dealt with.

If only Karma did work in the misunderstood way people think it does. However even a soulless bastard like him has to look in a mirror and one day he might just see what the rest of us see.

Failing that maybe wish a dose of cock-rot on him or that his trophy wife clears off with a much younger and richer model.

The judge might also want to think about the real victims in this, the pension holders, realise she is crap at her job then go and work in a supermarket which is all she's good for.

I have to agree with much of the above but it was probably inevitable. We live in a world where the more you have the more you're given and what little many people have is taken away to misquote some book or other. And I hold out no hope for her majesty's loyal opposition who've swallowed the capitalist credo hook line and sinker.

Aye, "I and me" have taken precedent over "Us and we" and the "Guru" who uttered those immortal words was also the "Choice" promiser!  :( :( :( :(

Bill, off for a run out at 2°C in the cool, crisp air and sunshine of a bonnie morning afore the rain and sleet arrive from the west later on.

'He said Garner had not realised he was breaking the law, which was accepted by the prosecution.'

Why was this accepted by the prosecution?! Took his word for it, did they?! Besides, I thought ignorance of the law was no excuse?
He needs time to reflect on his actions in a setting which encourages that. Still called prison afaik!
The fact that he's claiming mental health frailties in his defence should hasten his incarceration, not defer it.
Total judicial shambles and sadly, completely predictable. Got money? Get off.
Fear of the unknown does not mean the unknown needs to be feared

It contrasts with people being sent to jail for not paying council tax. Over 300 in the last 6 years - one a week.

I think this should have been put in the Rants section. Many of us feel justifiably aggrieved by this outcome. Like some have said.....let there some other form of punishment that this lowlife will suffer at some point in his "no care attitude" life.  Obviously the wrong judge was in charge on the days in question.
How did this happen? 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
