Enjoy the read, I am sure we could do the same over here but China or India still hold sway!  :'(

What a great life story! Loved the part about Joe welding a titanium business card to get the job at Lucky's Choppers. Plus, some mechanical philosophy, "Show them how to build something they can hold in their hands that can’t be argued with." Pure Hollywood!
Of course, we have Yorkshire's own version here at TC and whilst Joe only had to fix up a rundown house for his family to live in whilst fabricating, Michael has been building one from scratch! 🎂
'Course, Joe' s machinery might be slightly bigger... 🤔👍😀😎 A lathe, formerly used in a WW2 shipyard that can "hog off 1 inch of material in a single pass"

Thanks once again Matt for the kind and encouraging words, However I’m no John Britten, I wish I had half that mans talent. Read about the house he built oh and he also built a bit of a bike too 😉 Our house build is really coming on now, so hopefully come winter I should hopefully be able to devote a little more time on completing the tracker. Oh and the good news is I’ve built a workshop that will hopefully be housing a lathe, pillar drill and possibly a milling machine 🤞
Cheers Michael

And because the universe likes to balance itself, you've got muggins here who, in cutting down his footrest hangers, forgot that the right hand one has an anchor point for the brake pedal return spring ?🙄

Ta. I have seen (online) several xbr's with the hangers shortened right down, but looking closely at the pics, I see no evidence of the pedal return spring being relocated. Last night, it occurred to me that there are 3 springs acting on that same pivot point — one on the brake rod, one on the switch and the dedicated one anchored between the hanger and middle arm. I reckon the others just left off the latter, or beefed up one/both of the others.

So, are you going for a stand alone milling machine, or an add-on for the lathe? 😎🤑

Hopefully a stand alone machine Matt, I’m trying to remember what I did when I cut my footrest hangers down. I’ll refer to some photos later and see if it jogs my memory and let you know 🤞👍

Ahhh Michael, I now know where to come to when I need to do a bit of extra curricular activity machining wise.
