Video of it running here:

Still waiting for a price on the CCM. I have spoken to someone else who's flogging one on FB but I think it's probably too nice (read expensive!) for me. One owner from newand very nicely kept. But we'll see.....

Hello All

After exhausting my tiny brain with possible faults I finally got round to buying a compression tester and I think I really have found the problem now. The tester read a high of 75psi which as far as I know is way too low. So it will be an engine out job when I have time and a look for a stuck valve, debris under a valve or even the demise of my cheap Chinese piston rings which have done about 3000 miles.

Anyway it is a job I will get round to eventually, but at least I have a definite idea now of what I'm looking for.

Love the look of the SRV. Yet another good bike that the Japs kept to themselves. Got to handle better than a Virago surely?

Hi Ian

Thanks for the info and the offer of jets (another thoroughly nice TC chap is Ian). I am having a break from the MM, but when I get back to it I will let you know if I need anything.

Thanks

Ian

When I was an apprentice I worked with a right old character and whenever he was pleased with something or liked something he used to say 'woof ya fu+k+r'. Which is exactly what I thought when I saw the pic of the SRV250 just now! I have never seen one, but now I have I want one.

Brilliant news Ian, so pleased that you haven't got mired down, but instead have gone out and got back in the game.

I don't expect to see either bike - or even parts although Pete has given me a potential lead - again so looking at pastures new. I've already mentioned the CCM at the local Classic Bike Shop which I'm waiting for the owner to get back to me. But in the meantime I espied a Yamaha SRV250 which is effectively a Virago engine in a featherbed-esque frame. Couldn't resist it for £1150. This is the model although mine is a mucky maroon colour so not as attractive.

The insurance claim is moving forward and I've now fitted an alarm in the garage and a proper lock on the back gate. Talk about bolting the stable door......
