I am suggesting that we run our 2019 rally at the Red Lion again. All those who attended last year had a great time, and we could dedicate the weekend to Boyd and Ifor, who we have sadly lost in the past year. The dates I am looking at are 2nd to 4th August, which I believe are the same or similar to last year. Again, those travelling home via the midlands could stop off at Broseley Bike Fest on the Sunday.
Feel free to make any comment or suggestion below ;)

That all sounds good top me Tim. Many thanks. See you there if not before
-
Sounds good to me too Tim. After freezing my nuts off on the bike over the last week, all I can say is roll on spring and summer!
-
It's a 'yes' vote from me Tim...and a singsong in Welsh again around the campfire?
Dave...and a 'yes' from Pat as well.
-
I will give it another go! The beer was pretty good from what I can remember.
-
Thank Tim for getting this going. I will be there, as last years rally at The Red Lion at Beulah was excellent and a very memorable weekend. Cheerz BradXT (Cliff)
P.S. Hope to drag Mr Paul Roberts along again on his very black Continental GT.
-
Gets my vote Tim.
-
I'll be there again, hope we get the same weather!
-
Best run we had last year, even though getting there was an adventure. :o But unfortunately we cant make the fist weekend in August due to a work commitment. :'(
-
Would be happy to be there again, but i also cannot make those dates. Work is also my gamebreaker... :'(
-
I'll be there, possibly with a plus one.
Trevor
-
Unfortunately I had to miss it last year. Should be good for this one !
-
I realise that it won't suit everyone, as no dates ever will, but I confirmed with Alan at the Red Lion, so the rally will definitely be 2nd to 4th August. Apologies to those who can't make it.
-
Have a good one everyone, pity i cannot make it. But i will keep trying to find a possibility nontheless! ;)
-
Unable to attend last year due to illness !
Hopefully I will this year ;-)
Jethro
-
I couldn't make it last year but good to go this year.
-
ill be there.
-
Me and SteveD called in at the Red Lion. All good. Usual friendly welcome, however pub will be changing hands in September, so this will be your last chance to experience this fantastic pub in its current form with a great landlord, Alan, and his family :)
-
Sorry to hear Alan is leaving. Will be a hard act to follow.
-
Glad to learn Alan will still be at The Red Lion for this years Thumper Rally!! Cheerz Cliff
-
My mate let me have the Mighty Enfield back, mostly because it is running like a bag of shit. I have now bought a CBF500 but hope to get the Mighty Enfield back to some sort of good health for the Red Lion. However if I don't I will be there on Henry Honda.

Excellent Ian. If you contact Alan at the Red Lion, there may still be a bed available in the cottage. I think someone has made a booking, but it sleeps at least two, and maybe more, on camp beds etc :D
-
Bugger, I've got to give the Red Lion a swerve now :(. I've been on the waiting list for an operation, and I've just had the date come through of July 17th, so there's sadly no way on God's green earth I'm going to be sufficiently recovered to get there. I won't even be able to ride the bike till sometime in September.
Have a great time folks and have a beer or two for me (something else I won't be able to do for a while >:()
-
Best of luck with the op Pete. I'm glad to hear your getting it done pronto.
-
Pete,
All the best with the op and make a speedy recovery.
My regards, Bill
-
All the best for the op Pete. Hopefully see you before too long.
Regards
Tony
-
Thanks for all the good wishes! Hopefully I'll be out and about again by mid September, and if my stupid solicitors pull their fingers out by then, it may even be new bike time. ;)
-
Pete, sorry to hear you won't make it and best of luck for a speedy recovery!
The Red Lion meet was brilliant last year so count me in. Hopefully it's not going to be an issue but as of next week, I won't have the XT and was planning on turning up on a twin. Will I be forced to disconnect one of the spark plugs???
-
Absolutely! Plus the camping as charged per cylinder Arn! Turn up on anything you like mate. All are welcome :D
-
Arn don't worry as it looks like I will be on Henry Honda and he definitely has two cylinders. Why won't I be on The Mighty Enfield I hear you ask (ok I didn't but hey there are so many voices in here one of them could have asked)? Well I have a lovely wee tripette planned - Red Lion for the weekend then the Lakes for a night and up to the Glencoe Bunkhouse for two nights followed by maybe a night in Beadnell on the way back. As much as I love TME Henry will make shorter work of that trip so he gets chosen.
All I need now is for someone to remind me of where the Red Lion is in Wales!

At Llanafan Fawr, which is near Newbridge on Wye, on the Beulah Road. I hope we get last years weather :)
-
Many thanks Tim. It will indeed be nice if the good weather holds.

Not long to go now. Will be leaving home at 5am on Friday to get the 8am boat out of Dublin - see you all later!
-
Have a great time everybody. Sorry I can't be there this time...
-
It's a pity you won't be there Pete. Glad to hear that the recovery is going well.

Hi all...do you want me to bring the fire pit again?...if so can the sidecar boys bring some wood along, or anything that'll burn for that matter...no bikes though, they burn well, but leave a terrible mess to clear up in the morning.
See you all on Friday.
Dave.
ps...Pete, glad you're on the mend.
-
Hi Dave, fire pit would be good.
Can you bring some sunshine as well? ;)
Cheers Steve
-
.....Can you bring some sunshine as well?......
Well it did last week coming back through Belgium from a Guzzi meet in Germany the previous weekend...it was displaying 40-41 deg at 7pm on Tuesday evening and Wednesday was even worse...nice to get back to cooler air.
-
Yes, I have booked cooler air, as requested :D
Wishing everyone e a lovely journey, and Im sure the weather is to improve by the end of the week. Been reading Lois Pryce's books lately, so i am not prepared to let a spot of rain put me off. Of more concern is that I have badly scalded my left foot, which is currently all bandaged up care of Minor Injuries. Hope I can get my boot on by Friday :-\
-
Sorry, but unable to attend the bash. :(
Tim, hope the foot heals well, go canny, you dinnae want that going septic! :(
Steam pipe, or you throwing the vegetables about in the kitchen? ;)
My regards, Bill
-
.......Of more concern is that I have badly scalded my left foot, which is currently all bandaged up........
No problem Tim, just come on your scooter, you won't need to put your boot on then.

That reminds me of a few years ago..we were in Spain in the Camper with my Dr on the back and we went to our annual Guzzi meet in the Pyrenees, yes with a Suzuki ::)...and a girl from Belgium turned up, who had just fallen off her bike and hurt her left foot. Her foot swelled up when she took her boot off and could only hobble in her sandals...the problem was that she was to continue to Portugal after the meeting and she was in tears, so I came up with a solution. I gave her a larger left boot (from a spare lightweight pair) and she continued her trip...size 6 right foot, size 9 left foot and she used the boot until she could get her own boot on after a week or so. I told her to dispose of the boot when she had finished with it, so I disposed of the right boot. The following year at the meeting in Alsace she arrived with the boot and two bottles of Belgian beer. I didn't tell her the right boot had gone and then the left one went the same way. ::)
-
does the red lion do breakfasts?
-
...........if so can the sidecar boys bring some wood along............
Don't bother with bringing wood, I've got a tree and two pallets worth ;D
Dave.
-
Well...another cracking TC rally at the Red Lion. Tim has the numbers that attended, but we all had a good time, good weather and we were so good, the campsite owner said that we could come back next year...but will the pub be open, no one knows.
Dave.
-

Yes, another cracking weekend with the Thumpers. Thanks for making Nick so welcome on his micro-thumper ;)
Looking forward to the next one. Dent perhaps?
Let's hope that the pub is still open next year.
Cheers

I concur. Fantastic weekend, and the weather held out for us. Twenty seven peeps altogether, and everyone won a prize! Notable ones being Chris, for being overtaken uphill by two cyclists, and Mart for going off road unintentionally, following a group of trail riders! The rally was in memory of Boyd, and I think we did him proud. We even reintroduced the formal dress code for dinner, ie, a silly hat of your own making preferably.
Steve D ran a great ride out on the Saturday, which some of us extended on to the Neuad Arms Hotel, in Llanyrtryd Wells, the smallest town in Britain, home of the World Bog Snorkelling Championships, and HQ of the Monster Raving Looney Party!
At the minute, two of the NI party are on the ferry back to Ireland, and one is visiting his mother in Mablethorpe!
Next year, the current view is to have it back at Condor Farm, in Dent. Always a favourite venue for the TC.
Thanks to all those who made the effort to attend, and hopefully see some of you at the next event :D
-
Excellent weekend - nice to catch up with people and meet some new ones. Thanks to Timbo and Steve D for their efforts. Never been to Dent but heard so much about it I'll have to go next year
-
Another cracking weekend - thanks to Tim, Steve D, Alan the landlord (best wishes on his retirement) and all those who were there. Judging by the forecast this coming weekend we made the right choice. A further two nights in Bridgnorth and Monday spent ambling around the backroads of Shropshire were an added bonus. The 270 mile slog home on Tuesday via Holyhead and Dublin was just that! Still, it was all worth it and the banana made it home intact ;-)
Looking forward to the next one (which might be the 20th anniversary?)
All the best
Tony
