Title: 620 racer
Post by: andy230 on July 20, 2006, 01:29:04 PM
Piston hit the valve after something comical happened to the decompressor on a dyno run.  Can't see exactly what, but there's no compression even with all the valves shut/cambox off.

Will let you know more when I get the head off.  Won't be this week, I'm scunnered with racing!

I think I'll probably sell the bike as a road bike (once the top end's back on), probably with all the race kit.  And maybe sell the skorpion, and buy a proper racer.  Either way, I think that may be the end of my season.

The SRX is a brilliant road bike, with plenty of horses, and a good strong motor (ahem!), but can't quite cut it in a prototype race class.  I need the right tool for the job!  And yes, I am a duff rider, so yes I'm blaming my tools!

See you soon!

Hi Andy, sorry to hear about mishap! can we help in any way (we have got a standard 600 complete that you could borrow, if you would like us to bring it to Cadwell, I'm sure we could fit it in on Friday night between us. It's not going to be as beefy as your race motor but it won't be far off & you won't miss Cadwell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OR, you could come up to Derby Thursday27th & stop over or early Friday & fit it at my place (Garages oooooohhhh)

Let me know..........

Reading this after Dent and readily admitting to not fully understanding the many conversations we had over the weekend ( warm Stella does little for my powers of comprehension) but I thought you were combining the skorp and SRX to build your racer??? Isn't part of the fun working with what you've got to build the best racer you can?? Wasn't the next stage (other than getting the moter running:-?) putting the beast on a stomach stapling diet???

Haven't a clue about whats involved here, but to buy a secondhand racer has got to involve either BIG bucks or ending up with someone elses problems and then the BIG bucks bit.
