Not overly keen on either to be honest, purely from a looks point of view 👀.
They remind me a bit of the 650 Aprilia from a good few years ago.
As Bill says.....price 🤔
Thanks for posting though, plus it’s a British company so hopefully they do well with them
Cheers, Michael

I have sent an enquiry to Mac Motorcycles, the "Hotline" contact form having black background, with red highlights, meant that I missed one of the "telephone buttons" requiring an answer at the first attempt!  ::)

I will post the reply on here for your erudition!

Good health, Bill

I wish they would just use English. "Factory-finishing is done with a 3-part, automotive-standard coating in grey" - it's painted grey.........

🤦???🤣🤣🤣🤣... yep plain simple English would definitely suffice 👍

That's what BMW used on their crankcases and look at the way that peels off after a few heat cycles and winter miles.

Now that AJS 16MS for just shy of £3,000 looks really good value. Whilst an Enfield looks good as well!

No reply from Mac Motorcycles, so far!

Good health, Bill

Just had a reply from Mac Motorcycles as follows

Hello Ian

We appreciate you taking the time to get in-touch, and we're chuffed that our bikes appeal to you.

We’re aiming to offer test rides mid-summer. If this is of interest to you, please could you let me know where you live, the nearest town would suffice, and we'll see if we can plan a test ride somewhere close to you.

Thank you

I've heard/seen nowt, since my enquiry! I think I'll just stick to repairing Sally.  ;)

All the best Ian when you get your leg over.

Good health, Bill

As if by telepathic intuition, I received this reply this morning.

Hello Bill

Thank you for getting in touch, we appreciate it.

With regard to your question about respective weights. We haven't weighed the bikes precisely, but in our design brief, we were always aiming for a dry weight of around 150kgs. A full tank of fuel would add somewhere between 12-14kgs to the kerbside weight.

We are just about to start durability testing with both 'Rex' and 'Ruby'. This will take a minimum of three months, during which we will cover at least 30,000 miles over all sorts of terrain and different riding conditions. All being well, test rides will be available mid-summer. If you would like us to put your name down, please could you let me know where you live, the nearest town would suffice, and we'll see if we can plan a test ride somewhere close to you.

The price of both 'Ruby' and 'Rex' is going to be in the region of £11k to 12k.

Thank you

So, probably weighs about ½cwt (20kg) more than you would like.

The price I suppose is on a par with a CCM Spit', but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere, thank you. I could have another couple of Dukes and Sally running for that money and change left over! ;)

"Durability testing", now who is going to sign up to do that for them?  :-X

Good health, Bill

Yes.. having paid 12 mucho grando for my SPIT..fire, for what I thought would be great bike along with great service I got neither. Bike was very average and the service was dire🤬
One can only hope that MAC motorcycles are better, certainly in their service.
Having now paid half the money on my triumph trident, I have absolutely NO regrets in getting shut.
So... in conclusion. I too would rather spend my well (hard earned) on something else.
If I want exclusivity... I’ll build my own 😉👍
Cheers, Michael

Twelve grand!!  ...  hells bells !! etc. i paid a 20th of that for my #10 srx, and i expect to pay about a grand by the time i have got it how i like it. .... there's a lot of things i could spend 12K on, non of it to do with bikes .... certainly not a rather heavy underpowered 'rex' or 'ruby'

Totally agree, but as they say there's one born every minute. Judging by the lunacy we see every day prospective punters are probably queuing out of the door.

Wow, I didn't expect those sort of reactions. I just thought TCers would be interested in new thumpers that were becoming available

As we are Ian and thanks for posting the original link up. For me personally it just seems they are looking at competing with the likes of CCM, similar looking bike, very similar price bracket and as I’ve said before 12 mucho grando was defo to much for the CCM but hey one lives and learns.
Please do continue to post up anymore links that you get. 👍
Cheers, Michael

Aye Ian, you getting "sensitive", or a bit PC?  ;)  As Michael suggests, keep posting these new thumper links, if nowt else the Thumper Club will give it the once over and pronounce, even if it is a load of tosh!  ;)

Good health and have a good show, Bill

Just goes to show what a varied - although small and select - group we have here. One man's meat etc. Probably some would hate my "tarted up" XBR.......

I would think these bikes are aimed at new and younger affluent riders who want / need to be seen as "trendy" and "with it" or born agains who have plenty of disposable capital but not much common sense or again who want to appear as fashionable. I suspect most if not all on this forum are like me-don't have or want to spend such a vast sum of wedge on an untried and untested machine and have too much knowledge of older bikes which will fit the bill for considerably less cost and are not in the least bothered about the latest fashions. Good luck to them if they can produce a reasonable product but at that price even if I could  I won't be going near them after Michael's experience with the CCM which is an established marque. Maybe Henry Cole will be roadtesting one if there's a new series of the "Moerbike Show" man...... I think this "sled" may appeal to him and some of the current London  biker cult types. Not that I have anything against HC who I've come to appreciate over the years for his positive portrayal of our hobby / lifestyle.

dinna take a fence (or a gate) Ian, we love any and all posts on here as you know, and our comments are about the rex & ruby and have no reflection on you mate.

and you're right, our old thumpers reflect what we ourselves like in the way of our biking 'fix' . i'm sure there will be many out there who don't particularly like the way i trick up my SRX's... and that's fine ... 'cos it's mine,  not theirs lol.
