Might be something  of interest for someone.

Yes, saw that. I was a VMCC member for many years but left a while ago because of the infighting and other shenanigans. It sounds like a nice idea but terribly open to abuse.

Hi All

Like you Ian I quit the VMCC due to the politicking of a few years ago, that and the fact that whenever I went to a meeting the people there seemed more interested in what they owned and how much it was worth rather than riding anything.

This does look like a reasonable scheme, notwithstanding the caveats mentioned. I just thought it funny that the first pic in the article is clearly designed to attract riders of an age who think of an FJ1200 as 'vintage'. Oh well time marches on.

Using the FJ1200 as the introductory image makes me wonder if they are going down the canal, butty and ben route?

Weren't they the real names of the Three Stooges? Sorry Bill I couldn't resist that as I don't understand the reference.

Aye Ian, no need to be sorry, I was implying that the FJ1200 would be a bit of a barge! Hence the canal, butty (towed barge of the pair of working boats), the "ben" bit was a throw in.  ;)

I never have been a film buff and the "Three Stooges" were unknown to me. Could be some potential for chuckle vision! Thank you.

Good health, Bill

I also quit vmcc, I have always said I would prefer it if vmcc sections had their `own` membership independent of the main body, who are always bickering with each other

Hi Bill

Now I understand! Yes indeed the FJ1200 does look like a large bike to be throwing around.

The Three Stooges were basically a more slapstick act who were contemporary with the Mark Brothers, but lacked Groucho's comic genius (in my opinion only). If ever you need a chuckle search for the scene where Groucho and Chico Marx are negotiating a contract, sheer hilarity and way ahead of its time (again only in my opinion).

Spartacian the fan.

P.S. Groucho Mark once said 'any club that would have me as a member isn't worth joining'. Good job Thumper Club doesn't operate a membership policy!

The ability to have a conversation from VMCC politics to the Marks Brothers, in a single post, is sufficient "Membership policy"!

I too enjoyed the Marks Brothers, but a lack of TV from the age of 11 until I was 28, due to circumstance and geography, means that I can take or leave the "...make belief" aspects of screen "entertaiment!".   :-\

The attached says it all!  ;)

Good health, Bill
