Title: SRX 600 - handlebar conversion?
Post by: SteveThackery on November 09, 2021, 07:20:31 PM
Hey, colleagues!

Has anyone here done a handlebar conversion to the SRX 600?

There are kits on eBay, but my main concern is about sourcing longer cables for the clutch, choke and throttle, plus longer brake lines.  If anyone has advice or experience to share I'd be most interested to hear.

Hi

I don't have any experience of SRXs but used a company called Venhill to make up longer cables for me. You will find them if you google the name. All they needed was a standard pattern, so an old cable of the standard length, and a measurement of how much you want added in. I seem to remember they were reasonably priced and the cables were well made. I also seem to think they do brake lines as well, but I could be wrong about that.

Ah, thanks, Spartacus.  I'll give them a look.   :)

Hi Steve, I have drawings to make the parts to convert the original top yoke. I think they are still on Steve Haywards SRX600.net (link below)

As Spartacus has noted Venhill are a pretty good bet to make longer cables. Although I believe Wemoto can supply a kit to make longer ones yourself. I have used a local industrial fluid and hydraulic hose company that made my brake lines. I'm sure there are plenty of those around the country that may help. They will probably be cheaper than most bike specific hoses.

Thanks, Ian - I hadn't spotted those drawings.  Very useful indeed.   :)
