Title: Help...any Honda domi owners
Post by: Moto63 on June 01, 2019, 06:25:20 PM
Evening all. (No I'm not a po leece man😁) I'm struggling to match up a dominator rear disc with the supposed disc bolts, I'm on the third set, still incorrect. If anyone can shed any form of light or possibly post up a pic up so I can have a look that'd be great... thanks in advance
Cheers, Michael

Aye Michael,

Whilst I do not have a Dominator, what year/model is the beastie with which you are wrestling?

I'll give it a shot.

Bill

hi Michael there are different sized shoulders on the disc bolts on different models eg rdo2 /rdo4  so double check your disc is the right model for your bike   ,,,what model have you  tommy

Morning gents, that's the problem I have no idea what model the rear wheel is from. It's part of my "tracker project " as you say Tommy it's the shoulders on the bolts that are to long, so the disc won't nip down to the hub face. I was told by the bloke I got the from it was from a dominator but I'm now wondering if its possibly from slr 650 vigor. Then again I don't know if the vigor is different rear wheel set up to the dominator?? I'm determined to get this tracker at least built up to looking like a completed bike, even if it's not actually wired up n running by October.
Thanks for taking the time chaps... cheers, Michael

Get a Jawa Michael. It takes them 30 years to do something as radical as changing the size of a bolt.  :o ??? :( :) ;D

Afternoon Michael,

MMMmmmm! :-\  Bit of a poser this one!

Had a rake through the Honda parts lists and it would appear that the domed head, cap screw, part number: 90128MM9000 has been used on the Honda Dominator NX650, 1988 to 1999 and the same cap screw was used on the Honda Vigor FX650, 1999 to 2000. There are also a further 450 plus Honda models, worldwide, on which this cap screw is used.

Are you using a 'pattern' sprocket? The thickness of material may be different from 'OE' sprocket.

Are you aware that in all the cases that I have viewed the parts list that there is a washer between the lock nut and the sprocket carrier on the inside of the carrier? This washer has the part number: 90465MM9000 and is fitted to over 1,000 Honda models, worldwide.

The specific nut for this application is part number: 90304GA6003 and is fitted to over 1,800 Honda models, worldwide.

Whilst the nut is a locknut and is also flanged, the washer is also required and if you do not have these, this maybe the cause of your inability to torque the assembly correctly.

I would add that stainless steel items would not be my choice for attaching a sprocket to the carrier; high tensile steel, zinc plated, items would be my choice, if Honda 'original' parts aren't being used and it isn't going to be an 'outline' restoration job.

Hopefully, this helps you resolve the problem.  ;)

My regards, Bill

Many thanks indeed Bill for taking the time. However it's not the sprocket that's the issue (yet😁) it's the rear disc brake/bolts. I've had another look at the csm site and have now just ordered up my third or fourth set, genuinely lost count 😢😢. Fingers crossed they'll fit this time. The problem is I started the tracker before my accident and it then stood idle for a few years while I mended up, hence I've forgotten half of what I've actually ordered/bought for it. Thanks again your time and efforts are much appreciated 👍👍
Cheers, Michael

Much appreciated Tommy... looks like I've been sold an incorrect disc 😡😡😡. Wouldn't mind its an EBC item bought directly from ebc. Looks like I'll have to get my hand in my pocket again, not a healthy thing to do for a Yorkshire man 🤣👍.... cheers, Michael

Apologies for only replying now Michael. Ive had a couple of Dommies, and I too reckon you have been sold the wrong disc.
