I do not have any first hand experience of this kit, but it might be of interest to all of you whom may have oval rear drums on your XBR or are thinking of converting to spoked wheels, for whatever reason. The items that you may wish to view are at the bottom of the web page, to which I have provided the link.
Link: motocicliveloci.it_Comstar_wheels_conversion_spoked_wheels (http://www.motocicliveloci.it/inglese/catalogue/cerchiborrani_uk.htm)
Bear in mind that Italian's have "flexible" working hours and there is the 'holiday season' at this time of year as well!
My regards, Bill

As usual Bill you've posted up another excellent link, probably come just tad to late for me with "tracker" project but still brilliant for future reference. I was struggling as to which photos to look at, the lovely spoked wheels or the sun set. Top stuff, thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Michael

Thank you for the compliments Michael, might be useful to somebody.

Yes, excellent link, and one to save for future reference. I do keep looking at xbr's but having never ridden one think the experience would be too similar to my silver star. Still, you never know what the future may bring, so worth saving the link. :)

Cost of converting is more than the bike is worth. Not for me, I will stick with the originals and am quite happy with them and are easy to keep clean.

Aye Oldtimer,
That would tend to be my train of thought, but it takes all sorts....... ;)
Good health, Bill

Think I might have posted this before but the company that manufactures the Honda CX500 café racer conversions used to offer the Comstar conversion kit. Not sure if its still available but they still list it on their site:-

Very handy link, I have always had in mind using CBX wheel with the internal disks on an XBR for that big drum brake look, a wire wheel conversion kit would make this possible

I always quite liked the Comstar wheels ( at least the 'boomarang' Comstars on the XBR and others). I know spoked wheels look the part, but past experience of regularly tightening/replacing rear wheel spokes on the DR400 and to a lesser extent the GN250 has put me off the idea.
