I hope they get the timber stacks and the sheep sorted out afore hand! ::)
My regards, Bill

It looks good on paper (& pictures), lets hope it's more successful than the C O W !!
I'll certainly get my passport sorted out and be on my way for the first event.

Morning chaps... yes one of the blokes who's help organise it all is the bloke who bought the ikuzawa (Harris) off me... he did heavily hint at what was coming when we caught up with him down at the Stafford show in October. We were sworn to secrecy tho as there were a couple of loose ends still to be finalised/confirmed. He hopes to get the ikuzawa done in time for next year's meeting. Fingers crossed he does... I'll be down to watch it.
Cheers.. Michael

Very interesting indeed. How long is the circuit? A possible TC meet up? :)
-
Think from memory Tim it's about 5 and a half miles long, it's going to be held on a closed road circuit that's actually an MOD road so no dry walls or kerbs to worry about like at the TT. Yes I'd defo say it's a possible TC meet up point. Just have to try and stop her indoors booking the family holiday at the same as the race meeting 🙁🙁.
Cheers.. Michael

It's 5.25 mile circuit. MOD roads but a good part of it is open to the public - normally just used by locals. I've been up over the Eppynt ranges a few times this year - absolutely stunning. This is a really big deal for Mid Wales and a perfect focal point for a TC event.

There was something about it in classic bike mag - I think Steve Plater had a ride round and liked it.

In the first post by themoudie the video link is of Steve Plater,

Yeah buy that's on faceache and I refuse to use that.

I've always thought there was great potential for road racing in the UK on these upland areas. The runoff couldn't be better, as its all bog ;)
-
My father in law, who is in his 80s, seems to think that there used to be a road race up in Eppynt years ago. Is he right?
-
Yes, he is.

Brilliant Richard. So my da in law isn't totally senile! He told me it was held after WWII for a few years, so was on the money. At the time he was a trials rider in the Cheshire Section :)

My lad wants to go , so we'll be there , according to my lad its £42 or £75 if you want to camp ?
8) hopefully sunglasses will be needed ?

Club trip in the making then, plenty of decent campsites in the area if not the 'official' one.
Stephen Edwards (Steffan) family used to race that circuit I believe and won a few prizes when they owned a localish garage.
I shall see if I can get the time off work.

Pricy, compared to road racing in Ireland, which can be as little as a tenner to watch. However, I'm not complaining, as these races have costs to cover, and how they keep going at all always mystifies me :-\

Just a thought. Question for the mid Wales dudes? What about using the Red Lion as a base for the Eppynt Road Races. Great old stone pub, oldest in Powys, half way between Beulah and New bridge. Camping is basic, but less than a fiver, with a toilet and sink in a wooden hut in the field. The pub is a great little venue, with good food and beer, in a scenic location at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains. Holiday cottage for rent next door :)
Plus, those that can't be arsed with the racing, could head off for a scenic ride out instead :)
-
Sounds good to me.

Fantastic road that the pub is on and an ideal location. Another option might be the campsite at Pure Adrenaline near Aberaeron - I know you've been there Tim and Richard had his wedding celebration there.Bit further away but a nice ride over to the racing. They now have a bar, are not adverse to putting on a great bonfire and providing music. I know they are hoping that this event will create much needed business.
-
Ah yes. We should really be supporting Pure Adrenalin, I great bike shop/workshop ;)
