Title: Electronic Tacho
Post by: silver on July 03, 2017, 09:43:42 AM
Hi, Does anyone know where I can get a Tacho with a budget of about £50. all the ones on Ebay seem to be for multi cyclinder engines. I found one for a twin, could I use that?
This is for the supermono trackbike project. They usually insist on one for the noise test. That's why I don't want to spend a fortune.
I thought I might be able to get one off a modernish 125 road bike but they are mostly cable driven.
Any help would be appreciated .
Dave

These work well Dave :-

just wrap the cable round a spark plug lead, configure your engine type and away you go. I've used them several times in the past. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can even prise the back off, take the internal battery out and solder some leads on so you can run it from an external battery pack ie, 2 AA baterries in a battery holder.

Brilliant, I think £4.34 should fit in the budget. I'll give it a go. I'm not one for over revving a single so it should be fine for getting the noise test done.
