What are big trials bikes like?
How would the rife compare to an SRX?
are they designed for off road or are they any good for touring?
(or better yet anyone near bucks wanna let me test one out =P ) - may try and find a dealership to exploit.

You can come and ride my '91 suzuki DR650 if you like. Handles brilliantly, more fun than my racer, less hassle than the skorp. And it was DIRT cheap, if you pardon the pun! Pics in the photos section- not pretty, but neither am I.
Leg-out-sytle is absolutely mandatory!
Come for a ride. Bend it, you buy it, mind!!
Off home now, will check posts over the weekend. You know where I stay, look for the ambulance!!

I have a DR750. It has to be said it has not been the most dependable of bikes. That said the reason I have preservered is that I like riding it. The riding position encourages a more relaxed approach to riding and the height allows you to see over hedges etc. Brakes are not so good and combined with longer travel suspension makes emergency braking interesting.

Steve, Try using a DR800 master cylinder with a smaller bore, the lever travels further with increased pad pressure on the disc.

I for one, love big traillies :-) Can give you a sense of superiority mind. Sat up looking over all the traffic, traveling at a relaxed pace, just swinging through the bends using nothing more than engine braking to set you up for the next corner.
Can carry all I ever need to camp without upsetting the ride, yet are nimble enough to still have fun if you want. I don't think anyone following me and Dave Keeling through the lanes at Dent could complain that big traillies can't hold their own :-)
Must admit, I found fast cornering daunting at first as I was used to a lower, more head forward position, but now all is cool. It can freak out the odd power ranger when he can't shake you off in the bends and all he can see in his mirrors is you sat bolt upright.

Dave, Ive fitted a master cyclinder from a DRZ400 (1/2") which as you say improved the braking at the expense of slightly increased travel, which you dont really notice. I think its a combination of long travel forks, height, trail tyres and relatively small disc, dont inspire me when braking hard. Its okish (Ive had far worse) just compared to the SRX (which was the original question), not as confidence inspiring.
