Title: Camshaft reprofile/regrinding (srx 600)
Post by: LoCo on April 10, 2017, 08:36:24 PM
The glacially slow engine rebuild (children, house renovation, life etc!) is getting near to the end, I was wondering about a mild tweak to the cam shaft just to give a little extra power.
Which companies have people used and would recommend please.
Also next on the list is carb. rebuilds as have got hold of a Mikini 40 to replace the original ydis srx carb, any suggestions on a company for this would be great.
Thanks. Hopefully be on the road for the summer if I pull my finger out!

Aye Loco,

SNAP!  ::)  Rebuilding an XT600E motor at present, along with others and starting an extension!  :-X

Megacycle cam from USA is a common mod: Megacycle_catalogue (http://www.megacyclecams.com/catalog/catalog_optimized.pdf)

Alternative supplier, again USA: Thumperstuff (http://www.thumperstuff.com/index.html)

Or speak with Martin Sweet at Slipstream, with years of experience with these motors in Mono racing etc. He has just rebuilt my crank for me  ;D :Slipstream_tuning (http://www.slipstreamtuning.co.uk/)

For a carb, Allen's would be a good starter: Allen's_Performance_carbs (http://www.allensperformance.co.uk/)

I suspect that SteveH, andy230 and SteveL may also contribute to this posting, with their pennyworth and you could try using the 'Search' box in the top right of the screen to search the various boards in this forum for further information. "SRX camshaft" and "SRX carb" would be good starting searches.

Hopefully, this helps and if you have any specifics, post them up and we will try to point you in a direction!  ::)  It's up to you to decide whether you like the direction!  ;)

My regards, Bill

Hi, great thank you, was just checking other possible sources as was aware of thump stuff & the other US place but really would peter to us UK companies as it's less hassle usually, so will give slipstream a call.
The carb. I really wanted a pro to strip clean & rebuild as they'll do a better job than me so will give Allens a call as well, prefer telephone anyway as things tend to get lost in translation in emails sometimes.
Cheers Simon

I bought a cam from Slipstream, which turned out to be a Kent Cams regrind. Slightly more tapetty than standard but works very well. http://www.kentcams.com/product-details/916/Camshaft/Camshaft/YAM6--Enduro/ (http://www.kentcams.com/product-details/916/Camshaft/Camshaft/YAM6--Enduro/)
