Post by: timbo on January 19, 2016, 11:16:12 PM
If you get a chance folks, track down this half hour doc about Ryan Farquar's return to racing. Very good wee program. Just hope you lot won't need subtitles ;)

Yea, we're pretty lucky that way, as BBC NI give good coverage of the road racing. These are our real heroes, not knobjockies in formula 1 who are paid millions  >:(
Oh dear, I seem to have drifted into a rant  :-\

Our Ryan is a complex character. Some people love him, and some can't stand him, which I'm sure bothers him, not one iota  ;)
What is fact, is that he has helped save road racing by developing and promoting the whole Supertwin category, which is now the entry level, and affordable. The whole 125 and 250 category used to be the entry level, but has almost died off.
Unfortunately the 450 singles category which he was also pushing doesn't seem to have taken off in the same way, but a big E for effort Ryan  ;)
Obviously this is all IMHO  ;)

Thanks for the recommendation +++. Just watched it on the iPlayer.Excellent.We need more of these programmes.I just don't understand why people knock guys like him?Jealousy maybe? To me they are true heroes not the overpaid "knobjockies" of F1  and The Premier League and the like.

Morning Tim, yes I remember a good few years back now going to Oliver's mount (Scarborough) and it was when Ryan was out'in pretty much the first "super twin" Kwak. Nobody gave him a second glance but I,ve been a fan of his for a long time, again thro watching him mainly at Scarborough over the last 25 years or so. You could tell from the get go that with someone like him in the saddle these bikes were going to be brilliant. The rest as they say is history, like you say hats off to the man for sticking at it and proving the doubters wrong....it is defo on my/our (me n big bro) "to do list" to get over to watch some proper Irish road racing ASAP.......cheers Michael

Enjoy the blog link: "Our_Ryan!" (http://www.halfofmylife.com/2016/01/23/adventure-pt5-racing-earnest/)

Philip Island in turmoil, with all the usual bickering that hacks some of us off!  :(

Good blog to follow.

My regards, Bill

"Our Ryan"  :-[

And here is the culprit! An image of Ryan's grenaded motor that caused all the problems at the PI Classics meeting.  :(

My regards, Bill
