Any suggestions for this years rally? Don't all answer at once!

Steve D and myself were thinking of Llanfairfechan. Bunkhouse and camping, village with four pubs, near Conwy, with great ride outs round Snowdonia. Also its handy for us eejets from across the water. What do you think?
Plus I also have a soft spot for Mick and Wendy's at Dent.
Also, what about Fox Holes campsite at Bishops Castle?
Or should we go mad, and head all the way over to Norfolk to somewhere we've never been?

Ah yes..... I remember it well... Wasn't that where I found out exactly how it feels to ride a block of soap around the bath..! It would be enjoyable to go back to Clan fair f£$kn again... You know... face your demons as it were..... Seriously, it would make a great place for a rally. So convenient for the ones coming from Holyhead. Count me in.... ( But don't make it TT week ).... The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club are holding a championship round at Anglesey on the 9-10 July. Would give another option to the Saturday run.

Hi Ron. I do have a good working relationship with the owners of the campsite and could possibly swing something depending on the timing.
We really do need to make our minds up on a date for the event. Some suggestions more than welcome.

Hello Steve. How are things in the Republic of Yorkshire? Like yourself, I'm all for booking things sooner rather than later, then it's sorted. The 9-10 July seems as good as any. No matter what dates are picked, they won't suit everyone. Early doors I know but maybe a show of hands from those who "intend" to go might help.

Yep, let's just go for it. There are a number of different options at Platts Farm. We could reserve one of the camping areas, we could reserve the bunkhouse etc etc. Your right, whatever date we pick, it won't suit everyone ;)

I spoke to Alan (Sams husband) at Platts Farm ( camping and bunkhouse ) last night and asked if we can get the dates so far discussed.
Hopefully she will get back to me today to confirm.

That weekend is a very significant wedding anniversary for me and Sue, so I doubt if we'd be able to make it (but never say never). The bunkhouse is a possibility.

I've not managed a Thumper Club rally yet but would be good for 9th/10th July as my wife will be away in France. Also the place in Wales (too cowardly to try to spell it) sounds good.

I spoke to Sam at Llanfairfechan today and the date is OK.
We shall be sharing with another group of campers but I said that would be OK and mentioned somewhere in the region of 20 small tents.

Just to summarise then, we have three Thumper meets, four if you include the Dragon. Shepherds Rest at end of April, Llanfairfechan in July, and Cwmdu in September :)

Is there a website link to show when and where you are going during your rally. Would be good to meet up for a natter. I'll bring a packet of chocolate digestives, that should cover it.

Hi Timbo to block book the bunkhouse would need 10 bodies. I really would like some sort of committment if people want this.
Although the bunkroom has now been split in two, perhaps just one room. I need answers. We can see in a couple of weeks time what the situation is when we meet for the Dragon.
PS
I would also like to take the opportunity to start a list of persons wanting to come. As mentioned I have asked for space for 20 small tents, if this is exceeded then I need to act accordingly.

So at the moment there's five of us coming over from NI, and we're provisionally planning our trip as follows. Boat from Belfast to Cairnryan on wed 6 July, camping at Condor Farm, Dent, with Mick and Wendy, (a regular past TC venue).
Thursday, take a circuitous route, and end up at the Royal Oak, Whetton, Manifold Valley, Staffs Peak District, camping at farm across the graveyard.
Friday, spin down to National MC Museum for a few hours, then across to Thumper Rally at Platts Farm.
Anyone who would like to join us is very welcome :)
Leave rally on the Sunday for a leisurely spin to Holyhead for the afternoon ferry to Dublin.

So the NI contingent are now thinking of spending the Wednesday and Thursday night at Dent with a ride out round the Dales on the Thursday. So a Thumper Rally before the Thumper Rally so to speak. So, everyone welcome :)

I'm still hoping to attend however I feel that to do so with my jap four-banger and sidecar would be most inappropriate. My closest qualifying machine is still my Bantam which is 3 days labour away from completion. There is no chance whatsoever of my Duc being back on the road :-\

No worries, my first Thumper do was on a Yamaha Fazer. The rally was £15. So Boyd tried to charge me for £15 per cylinder ;D
Just turn up on whatever you've got, you'll be more than welcome. There's even a rumour that SteveD is buying a Honda 500 twin :-\

Back on a thumper too. XT660z Tenere and loving it. Sadly, my bike is with the doctor at the moment as I got knocked off about a month ago. quite a bit of damage (new front end, tank, swingarm and everything bolted onto the right hand side of the bike) but not written off, thank god.
... which leads me nicely onto health... I've been better :-[ Nowt major, but suffering with my neck & shoulder. Seems I don't bounce as well as I used too.
Bubble visor still with me. You should try one. Don't seem to mist up and the tint takes the edge off glare.
You going to the rally mate?? Be good to catch up properly.

I have been in touch with the PUB today and asked if we can have the consevatory at the back for the Saturday evening, we should be OK for that. I also asked for a reduced menu that should cater for all so that we won't be waiting too long to get food in the evening after the rideout.
They have suggested a Chicken curry and a Veggie curry with the associated chips popadoms etc and a Beef Stew with crusty bread / chips etc all at @ £9 per head. The food is good with good portions It would be good if I can get an idea of numbers so that they can be prepared.

Thanks Steve, having spoken to the great Oz last night he now cant make it, as he has bookings come in for motorcycle training over next weekend, which he cant afford to turn way. So Oz sends his apologies for absence next weekend, but I am sure you will all be pleased to know I will be there on Saturday. Don't answer that one please! Hi Jethro.
Name of campsite is PLATTS FARM (Llanfairechan)
As you come into the village centre from the dual carriageway you will come to a set of traffic lights, having just passed a big pub to your right.
Go through the lights and turn immediately right after the bus shelter, probably about 30 metres! follow the track down to the site and paradise!
...................and yes it is that close to the village centre.

I don't like doing this but I am off to Norfolk for a week next week and have a lot to fit in and I am not going to be able to make the rally, as somethings gotta give. My apologies, as I know what it's like trying to organise stuff and I hope this doesn't cause you too much inconvenience. Need to have less in my diary!!! Not gonna make it. Bantam is still a basket-case, albeit a rolling-chassis basket case with a complete, runnable (given 30mins) engine in it and all the tinware & saddle attached, and the Duc is still awaiting open heart surgery. Attending on my jappanikki four banger is simply not in the correct spirit and would warrant hara-kiri at the very least. Plus my 30 year old little girl is trying to flog her maisonette and she's collared me for garden clearing this weekend, grumble grumble. Life is just a bowl of toenails...
Whilst on the subject, does anybody wanna buy a 2 bed, ground floor maisonette in South Birmingham with locking back gate, small, lockable, brick-built shed in garden, patio on which 2~3(more?) solos can be parked/fettled? I'm sure we can arrange an amicable discount if the sale doesn't go via the money-grubbing estate agent who wants his cut.

We were like ships passing in the night Mark, well, day actually. As you were on your way home to Cambridge, I was on my way over from Holbeach. Welcome to the forum.
Anyway, congratulations to Trevor and Sue who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at our rally, with Sue making the rash decision to spend the weekend with us lot of reprobates!
And also a warm welcome to Arn who can be seen below, about to tuck in to a light healthy snack for breakfast on the Sunday morning, before we all went our separate ways.

Sorry for being so late posting here. We had a great weekend, so many thanks to Steve for organising it. Shame about the weather but never mind.
Thanks to Tim for the photo above. Sue really enjoyed herself as well. This was our first visit to Llanfairfechan, although we know the area very well having had many holidays in North Wales over the last 40 years.
Hope to be at Cwmdu, but we'll have to see how the new job goes.
