Title: Replacement seat cover
Post by: Oldtimer on January 13, 2015, 12:36:50 AM
I am after a seat cover for an XBR. I plan to do it myself to save on cost.
Any idea's where I can get one from would be much appreciated.

Wemoto sell them about £20-£30 ish.

£20 for a Far Eastern made one or £30 for a UK made to order one.

I don't know what the seat pan is made of on the XBR but if it's a nylon/plastic affair with the cover stapled on as on my RS You will probably need a powerful stapler, the 'normal' DIY jobs aren't up to it, I know, I've tried.

They are plastic seat bases, you will need a powerful staple gun to go through it, I recovered my seat last summer, its a bit of a job keeping it wrinkle free but go steady and you will be ok

One tip, soak the cover in hot water, to make it more supple, and easier to fit. ;)

Thinking of using one of these. Friend of mine has done his and made a good job of it. They are about £12.

I bought off ebay seat cover material that stretches 4 ways, I  recovered my divvy seat and its pretty good, it is a smooth material rather than the textured original but it was relatively easy to do and no creases! I would definitely use this fabric again when I need to redo a seat. I heated the base as I went along with a hairdryer which made stapling a lot easier with a standard staple gun.

Cheers
Gareth

I'll give this some thought as it will be cheaper than WeMoto  If I mess-up cheap enough to get another.

I like the look of that spike strip product. I'm sure you could rivet it onto a plastic seat base. Good luck, and let us know how you get on. :)
