Hi Everyone, haven't been on the site for ages. Myself and Tony are organising a camping weekend at the Shepherd's Rest, http://www.shepherdsrestpub.com/ ...in the heart of the Sperrins, 6 miles from Draperstown, over the weekend 24th-25th Oct. Some of you may remember attending the Thumper Club rally there a couple of years ago. Everyone of a Thumper mentality is more than welcome, even Ronnie :P For those that don't fancy staying over they are more than welcome to attend the Sat ride out, which will leave Slim's Café, Draperstown, at 11am on Sat 25th. The ride out will be on minor roads through the Sperrrins, so don't turn up on a Fireblade! ;D There will be a 2 course meal on the Sat night for £10/head, I'll just need numbers on the Sat morning.
-
Nooooooooooooooo, I've got something on that weekend, you'll have to organise another. Had a great time there at the rally(even though Ronnie was there).
Have a good time.

Cheers Mark. unfortunately the wknd was only planned a few days ago, so very short notice.

Yeah, yeah, was it a Ronnie plan. ;D

Just a few more details. There's a bit of music on in the pub on the Friday night, trad probably. The pub also now stocks beer from a new local brewery, The Pokertree Brewery in Carrickmore.
There is also some sort of mega ultra 24 hour fitness event on over that weekend were teams run, cycle, orienteer, and kayak, tho they will be away doing their event whilst we are there. Sounds like hard graft, personally I will be sticking to my strict regime of an ulster fry, followed by meandering around the back roads on a motorcycle, and lashings of ale in the evening :)
For those unfamiliar with the Shepherds Rest, if the weather is shitty, there is also a wee cottage in the grounds with a few setees, a peat fire, and tea and coffee making facilities. If weather really bad, tents can be put up inside the large barn next to the pub. ;)Our host, Colin Doyle has always been very accommodating.
Finally, this is also an open invitation to any of the MZ, Jawa, CZ, Armstrong, Enfield crowd or any other like minded souls, tho all bikes are welcome, even ones with more than one lung.

And I bet you have the log cabin at the top again. :)

You didn't think I was going to slum it with the great unwashed? ;)
-
I resemble that remark!
Ron.

He said GREAT unwashed, you are just unwashed. ;D

Hi Tim.....Ferry booked, see you Friday night...we'll stop for a long weekend then head back Tuesday.
Pat & Dave.

That's fantastic! Looking forward to seeing you and Pat :)
-
I would love to come over after enjoying the last visit so much, but I'm afraid I can't make it this time.
Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Gang. Will be setting off Thursday late afternoon and bunkhouse at Llanfairfechan for the evening. Ferry booked for Friday at 13:30 gets in about 5 ish so don't know what time I'll arrive at the site. Ferry back on Sunday at 15:30 so can have a bit of a lie in! (read sober up!)
-
Just for everyones' information, I have in the past used 'justferries' for ferry bookings but they have to my knowledge stopped trading or for some other reason do not exist anymore. When I tried to contact 'justferries' I was diverted to another company called 'teamcoordin8' and the person there advised me that they have taken over business for the aforementioned company and mainly take bookings for motorsport events and the like (similar to justferries).
I had a look at comparable prices last night and was quoted @£150 for the times I wanted, I got the booking today for £93 return from teamcoordin8.
Just sayin! ;)

You can buy all the beer with the savings then. ;)

Rumbled! :o

For anybody looking a ferry over, try Nutt Travel, 028 7035 1199. I wouldn't use anyone else. Its great to hear some of you are coming over, we really were only expecting a few local reprobates, especially at such short notice.
-
Well, I hope that reprobates from Yorkshire are OK :o
-
B@ST@RDS ! ;)
Short Notice Indeed ! Would love to go...!
Do another with more Notice next time.

Hey Timbo, I've been in touch with Rick and he's up for it as well (so far!) I've given him my travel info and he will contact the travel company and get his ticket organised on Monday. ;D
-
Rick has got his ticket organised, so that's the two of us sorted. We will bunkhouse on the Thursday evening and come over on the Friday afternoon.
Cheers, looking forward to the meet up and Guiness ;D

Hope your jokes are better this time round.

Ask him to either explain them or to speak slowly.

Hi Tim, I've just relayed your Camping / rideout message onto the DR BIG site, I think a couple of lads live up that way and I am also rebuilding an engine for a lad in the South, so if I get it completed, he may come up and collect...albeit by car.
See you Friday.
Dave.
ps. are you still making that cider?...mmm.
-
Great, the more the merrier. Hopefully Hurricane Gonzalo will have blown through by then :-\ Good news, I have forty demi-johns of cider made. Bad news, it won't be ready for another few months :(
-
....... Bad news, it won't be ready for another few months......
Shame about that Tim....I've had a message from Colum (from Cork), he's coming up to collect his engine from the campsite....I hope it works....on Saturday by car, but he's bringing a tent and wants the evening meal, so can you add him to the list.
Ta.
Dave.

That is good news, so another date for the Shepherds Rest, March is good for me. :)
-
I can't see why not 8). I will discuss it with the other guys at the wknd. Unfortunately there is no food organised for Friday eve, but Slim's is open till 7.30pm, and does good cheap grub. Just want to wish everyone whose going a safe and enjoyable trip from myself, Tony, Chris, and Ronnie.
-
Hi Tim, Can you add another Southerner to the list for Saturday night evening meal + camping. Colum's bringing a friend....
Ta
Dave.
ps...Pat & I won't get there 'til late Friday, the boat docks at 6:30pm Belfast.
-
No problem at all. Ill only need final numbers for sat eve by sat morn, but will get a rough idea fri eve. I hope to be up there by mid aft fri, and will have the fire lit in the cottage. There will be some basics such as bread, butter, tea, coffee etc and a small honesty bar :)
-
'.............a small honesty bar'......what is everyone else going to drink? :o
