Title: xt500 bits

hi all,
new member, just got an xt500 after 30 years of lusting after one.
 I haven't done my own work on bikes for just as long, i'm way out of touch.
where can I find parts, experienced mechanics etc.
i'd love to dress it up like a supermoto, especially with the chrome tank. i've seen some beautiful examples.
where do i start?
its an 82 model.
am I asking too much?

Where you from Andy?

A friend of mine restores or makes customs XT or SR500s

He recently did a supermoto XT500 with every performance part imaginable
