I bought a pattern choke cable as only the bottom part is present on my bike. The pattern cable is meant to replace the whole thing, but the nipple on the carb end is bigger than the original, the supplier (Pattern Parts.net) is happy to give me a refund, but says it is the correct cable. Anyone else had this problem? Were different cables used on Japanese bikes ?

I had the same problem but for a different reason.... (my cable broke, so instead of buying a new one, i made one up, just the inner) and the nipple i used was too big, so, once i was satisfied i'd got a solid solder joint i filed the nipple down to the correct size....not too difficult.... but a bit time consuming.... been on the bike for ages now, obviously...being a new cable...once you take a file to it there's no going back ;D

I'll see if I can get the right cable from Yamaha before getting the file out...

Is yours a twin shock?..I have the part numbers for both twin and monoshocks

Yes a twinshock, Japanese, I see Wemoto also list it (£17), the illustration looks very similar to the cable I bought, but the carb end nipple does seem smaller, I've got to go to MotoWard to pick up some bits, so I'll see what the official price is before ordering.

I dont think I paid that much for a genuine choke cable (Still available for Yamaha as far as I know).

MotoWard had the top cable, but had to order the connector £14 the pair.
